  • Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Recent Advancements in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence” October 21, 2020

    Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh is orchestrating a five-day online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Recent Advancements in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence” from November 2, 2020, till November 6, 2020. The programme will be split into two sessions, where the first session will be held from 9.30 AM to 11 AM, and the second session will commence at 11.30 AM and end at 1 PM. During the FDP, Resource persons will be sharing knowledge during the morning sessions of the FDP to inspire, and mentor the faculty. Among the venerated speakers, Prof Dipti Prasad Mukharjee, Professor, Electronics and Communication Sciences Unit, ISI Kolkata, India will be delivering a lecture on “Machine Learning Techniques for Computer Vision”. Further, Dr V Masilamani, Associate Professor, Computer Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM) Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, India, will be sharing insights on “Machine Learning for Image Quality Assessment”.

    Moving ahead with the FDP, Dr Deepak Mishra, Associate Professor & Head, Avionics Department Indian Institute of Space Technology (IIST), Trivandrum, Kerala, India, will host a session on “Machine Learning Applications in Remote Sensing”. Another session will be held on “Object and Image Memorability Analysis using Deep Learning Approach” by Dr Arjit Sur, Associate Professor, Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Guwahati, India. In addition, Dr A Vadivel, Associate Professor, Computer Science and Engineering, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, has been requested to conduct a session on “India Facial Expression Classification Using Machine Learning”. Apart from this, Dr Amal Dev P, Assistant Professor, Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Guwahati, India will be discussing the “Applications of AI in Computer Graphics”.

    Dr Deepak Ranjan Nayak, Assistant Professor, Computer Engineering, MNIT Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, will be speaking on “Medical Image Processing using Deep Learning” whereas, Dr Sanjay Kumar Panda, Assistant Professor, Computer Science and Engineering, NIT Warangal, Telangana, India have chosen the topic “Case Study of Machine Learning: Recommender Systems” for his lecture during the FDP. Also, the department of CSE will be welcoming Dr Subhankar Mishra, Assistant Professor, Computer Science, National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, India, and Dr Jatindra Dash, Assistant Professor, Computer Science and Engineering, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, India, to deliver a talk on “Secure and Private Machine Learning”, and “Texture Classification using Machine Learning”, respectively. Post graduate and research students, along with faculty across various institutions with background knowledge in Computer Science and/or Electronics Engineering are urged to attend the FDP to augment their horizon of knowledge, and receive an e-certificate on successfully completing the entire five-day FDP.

  • 72nd Outreach Programme of IIRS-ISRO on “Basics of Geocomputation and Geoweb Services” October 6, 2020

    Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) -Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) presents 72nd outreach programme titled “Basics of Geocomputation and Geoweb Services”, which can be availed by the students of SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh.

    Geocomputation is an emerging field that uses computational techniques such as neural networks, heuristic search, and cellular automata, for spatial data analysis. It is evolving as an essential scientific realm that encompasses techniques of geographical information systems, neurocomputing, heuristic search and cellular automata.

    Students of SRM AP are recommended to participate in this immensely beneficial programme from October 19, 2020 till October 29, 2020. During the programme, attendees will be introduced to Geocomputation – technology and applications, online GIS and geo-web services, open geodata repositories, and ISRO geoweb services for thematic applications, programming concepts for geo-computation, introduction to Python and R, and much more.

  • “ECE in Industry” Talk Series-03 October 2, 2020

    Mr V Iyyamperumal will discuss the requirements of futuristic industries

    In the next chapter of the “ECE in Industry” talk series, Mr V Iyyamperumal will be joining the students to discuss the expectation of the future technology-driven industry. He will deliver a speech-“Industry 4.0” on October 3rd, 2020, at 5.30 pm.

    Mr V Iyyamperumal has more than seventeen years of experience as a learning and development professional. He has worked in various industries like Telecommunication, Electronics Manufacturing & Automobile Components Manufacturing Industry. Currently, he is working as a Senior Manager- Learning & Development at ANAND Automotive Private Limited, Chennai. He started his carrier as Technical trainer and has trained more than 75 thousand people ever since in various domain. The Six Sigma certified trainer is an expert in technical competency assessment, and very passionate about Learning and Networking.

    ECE in Industry is one of a kind talk series organised by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in collaboration with the Department of Corporate Relations & Career Services. The series comprises of lectures of eminent industry experts who will discuss the challenges and opportunities that an ECE student may find in the relevant industries. The talk series will provide a holistic idea to the students about the vast world of industries and its requirements.

  • “ECE in industry” – Talk Series 02 September 25, 2020

    In collaboration with the Department of Corporate Relations & Career Services, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh introduces “ECE in industry” programme, which will comprise of a series of talks by eminent industry experts. The next instalment of the series brings Mr R. Prabakaran, General Manager- Learning and Development, Rane Holdings Limited, Chennai on September 26th, 2020, at 9.30 a.m. Mr Prabakaran will be delivering a talk on “Opportunities and Skills Required for ECE Students”.

    Mr Prabakaran has three decades of experience in the industry. He began his career as a Deputy Manager in NTTF Technical Training Centre. Later he has worked for reputed companies such as MM Forgings, Lucas TVS Ltd etc. He was responsible for the skill-building and generating various learning and developing initiatives in metal forming and CNC Machining. He oversaw skill and competency assessment and development across all levels and design ACT., along with working on Total Quality Management. In his present company, he supervises learning and development interventions across Rane Group of Companies pan India. Designing, Planning Resources and Executing leadership and manufacturing capabilities initiatives are some of his primary obligations. It is his vast experience of three decades of successful grooming and developing skills that he will be sharing with the students. Join the session tomorrow sharply at 9.30 a.m. to know more about the industry, its requirements and how to prepare yourself for it.

  • 68th outreach programme of IIRS-ISRO: “Geographical Information System” September 24, 2020

    Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) -Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is organizing the 68th outreach programme “Geographical Information System”. Students of SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, due to the university’s collaboration with IIRS-ISRO, have the prospect of attending this programme from September 28 to October 15, 2020.

    A Geographic Information System (GIS) captures and stores data pertaining to earth’s surface such as population, landscape, vegetation, sites of factories, farms, schools, storm, drains, roads, and electric power lines.

    With GIS technology, locations of different elements can be compared to comprehend linkages among them, and to identify risks. Considered as the future of geospatial studies, this outreach programme on GIS will enable students to accomplish great milestones in their future endeavours.
