The Department of Economics is hosting a webinar on “Salient Features and Career Opportunities for BSc (Hons) Economics at SRM University AP” on June 25, 2021, at 4.00 pm to discuss the thrust areas of Economics. Dr Suvvari Anandarao, Assistant Professor in the department, will introduce students to the theoretical and analytical foundations of economics careers.

In the webinar, Dr Anandarao will detail the industries and job roles available for graduates and discuss the best ways to attain internships and jobs in the industry. People across the world are celebrating the seventh international day of Yoga on the theme “Yoga for well-being”. As the celebration has been scaled down due to the pandemic, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh is celebrating the day by conducting a virtual talk on “Patanjali’s Eight Limbs of Yoga-Steps Towards Mastering Oneself” on June 21, 2021, at 5.00 pm.

Prof Vajja Sambasiva Rao, Vice-Chancellor, and Prof D Narayana Rao, Pro-Vice-Chancellor SRM University-AP will address the virtual gathering. The Heartfulness Centre at Vijayawada collaborates with our university to observe the day with lectures and yoga sessions from Dr K Tirupati Rao, Sri Srinivasa Rao (Trainers), and Ms Harshada Kulkarni, Visiting Faculty at IDEA, SRM University-AP.

The International Yoga Day was first proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a speech to the United Nations and has been observed worldwide every year since June 21, 2015, to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of yoga for health. In this unprecedented times of Covid-19, incorporating yoga into one’s routine is beneficial. Yoga is believed to be effective for the psycho-social care and rehabilitation of Covid-19 patients in quarantine and isolation. The programme aims to enlighten the students about the different yoga postures and the virtues of meditation.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, introduces the globally recognised American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) membership programmes to its students.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a non-profit establishment formed for the global engineers’ community that promotes collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enhancement, and skill development. ASME Student Chapter helps university engineering students develop their professional identity and provides essential engagement opportunities by offering access to a wide range of activities and resources such as membership, competitions, scholarships, student sections and much more.

The engineering curriculum is not restricted to the theoretical aspects but involves practical applications. The collaboration with ASME will help students of our university to find engineering-related job articles, online journals, webinars, and workshops on a single platform. Students will be exposed to niche career paths and opportunities across industries where they can apply their mechanical engineering education to address critical issues facing the globe. SVS Sri Harsha, a final-year BSc Computer Science student at SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, receives admission offers from India’s top business schools. As an extremely meritorious student, he has qualified CAT, XAT, NMAT and SNAP. He scored a percentile of 98.9 in CAT and has got the opportunity to study MBA at any one of the IIMs in Shillong, Kozhikode, Raipur, and Bodh Gaya. In addition to these apex management institutes, he has also received offers from XLRI-Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur; Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad; NMIMS, Mumbai; Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune; and International Management Institute, Delhi. He hails from Vijayawada and completed his schooling in Delhi.

The eighteenth session of this webinar series, titled “The Future of Technologies” will be held on June 19, 2021, Saturday, at 5:30 pm. Experienced HR recruiter Mr Joshua David, who is currently associated with Mphasis, Chennai, will educate and groom the job aspiring students on this topic.
