  • Education fair 2022: An exposure to major USA and UK universities September 26, 2022

    Education Fair 2022The office of International Relations and Higher Studies hosted the Education Fair on Friday, September 23, 2022, to provide thorough guidance about the higher education universities and programmes available across the globe. The event featured major USA and UK universities, including the University of Rochester, USA, University of Greenwich, UK, University of Essex, UK, University of Arizona, USA, and many more.

    The education fair began with an introduction to study abroad programmes. Students witnessed a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the general aspects of higher education abroad, like the qualifying examinations, VISA, various coaching available, fee waivers, etc. The education fair was conducted to give the students accurate information from the streams they want to choose to the scopes of that streams in a particular state or country.

    Education fair 2022Roop Sagar from BTech CSE also expressed how he had no clarity about the processes, requirements, scholarships, etc., before attending such sessions and was able to get a good picture of his aspirations after interacting with the university representatives. He recollected how the Office of International Relations and Higher Studies has always assisted him with accurate guidance whenever he was in doubt.

    “As someone who wants to pursue higher education by specialising in AI and ML, I am thankful to SRM University- AP for giving exposure to foreign universities that offer affordable courses and internships,” said Yaswanth from BTech CSE as he shared thoughts on the Education Fair.

    The representatives of the universities were in awe of students who had done their homework beforehand of the event and were pleased to answer as many questions as possible. “SRM University is one of the leading universities in India, there is no doubt about that, and here we get many students who are extremely talented and are suitable for post-graduation programmes and research,” said Amritpal Kaur, Senior Programme Officer of the University of Rochester.

  • Save the Soil workshop in collaboration with Isha Foundation September 13, 2022

    Save Soil SRMAP

    The Office of International Relations and Higher Studies in collaboration with Isha Foundation conducted a workshop “Save the Soil” for the students of SRM University-AP. The workshop intended to create awareness among the student community on the necessity of soil conservation. The Save Soil Movement is a global campaign spearheaded by the visionary, Sadhguru, to address the soil crisis and take a pioneering initiative towards the restoration of the planet.

    As part of the workshop, students were given awareness classes and lectures on soil conservation and the deteriorating scenario of nature such as agricultural degradation, land pollution and soil erosion. An elaborate overview on the extensive damage inflicted on soil due to various human activities was discussed during the workshop. The soil extension and soil management ventures initiated recently brought attention to the degrading status of soil health due to excessive carbon footprint.

    Students were also introduced to numerous techniques to improve the soil condition and reinstitute its fertility. The Save Soil movement advocates traditional conservation practices such as crop rotation, contour farming, conservation tillage etc., to retain and enhance the organic content of soil. The movement aims at establishing long-term policies that give special emphasis to addressing the soil crisis by uniting people, associations, and governments on a global scale. Raising awareness among students is the need of the hour to give rise to a conscientious generation capable of instigating a preservative outlook towards nature unlike in the past.

    Around 60 students from different departments attended the three-day workshop that was held on September 05, 06, and 09. The Senior Programme Coordinator, Mr Sandeep Samala, encouraged the students to be part of the Save Soil campaign by registering on the portal. Dr Naga Swetha Pasupuleti, Associate Director, appreciated the Save the Soil – Isha volunteers for successfully conducting the workshop.

  • Heartfulness Meditation Workshop September 8, 2022

    The Office of International Relations and Higher Studies organised a four-day Meditation Workshop in collaboration with Heartfulness Meditation on August 26, 29, 30 and September 02, 2022, as part of the Aadigyan-Open Elective programme. The workshop introduced students to the basic lessons of the arts and science of meditation. Around 60 students participated in the training programme in 2 batches.

    Hearfulness Meditation is a simple and subtle practice of meditation that connects an individual with the light and love of one’s heart. It follows the four basic steps – relax, meditate, rejuvenate, and connect – to guide oneself through a regulated path towards achieving tranquillity. Heartfulness is an essential life skill that would help one discover the sheer joy in existence.

    The certified heartfulness trainers conducted sessions on the significance and essence of meditation. Students were made to practice meditation through guidance. The purpose of the programme was to develop inner strength and balance of mind to confront various challenges of life with poise and self-control. The workshop, through its premeditated pattern, will help students develop the habit of meditation and make it an integral part of their lifestyle.

  • SRM University- AP inked MoU with Rennes Business School August 29, 2022

    Indo-French Collaboration meetIndo-French diplomatic relations have always tailored development across all major disciplines. SRM University- AP has inked an MoU with the Rennes School of Business on August 23, 2022. The two institutions agreed to promote mutually beneficial activities in education, research, and other academic areas. The alliance in specific targets the internationalisation of higher education.

    SRM University- AP aspire to strengthen the ties with Rennes School of Business following the mutual interests in delivering programmes of academic excellence and cultural diversity. Honourable Vice-Chancellor Prof V S Rao commented that the collaboration would open the gates of higher studies and research work for SRM University- AP and Rennes Business School. Both institutions are determined to work together with the spirit of prolific international relations and academic cooperation.

    Dr Thomas Froehlicher, Dean, Rennes School of Business, and Ms Maud LE BARS, South Asia Area Manager, Rennes School of Business, were the delegates who visited the campus to sign the MoU. “India and France share common historical events and many cultures. This collaboration will benefit both the nations and the students”, said Dr Thomas as he briefed his thoughts on the alliance.

    The coordination between the institutes may include but is not limited to progression programmes and semester abroad programmes. The agreement looks forward to organising executive programmes for the professional community, joint research projects, joint conferences and publications, exchange of faculty members, collaborative virtual student projects, short study abroad seminars, executive education, and admission to degree-seeking students on a fee-paying basis.

    Dr Bharadwaj, Dean SEAMS, Dr CA Mahalakshmi Mudliar, Associate Professor of SEAMS, and Dr Naga Swetha Pasupuleti, Associate Director of International Relations, had a vigorous discussion with the Rennes business school representatives regarding the areas of collaboration. Dr R Premkumar, Registrar and Dr Thomas Froehlicher, Dean of Rennes Business School, signed the MOU and exchanged the documents.

  • A happy conclusion to the UTP Familiarisation Programme August 5, 2022

    The UTP Familiarisation Programme was brought to a successful closure with the last batch of SRM University-AP students landing back from Malaysia. The familiarisation programme at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) Malaysia, was organised as part of Global Immersion facilitated by the Office of International Relations and Higher Studies at SRM AP. Students and faculty have participated in various on and off-campus programmes such as campus tours, training sessions, and cultural exchanges, organised as part of the programme that commenced in June 2022. The last batch of students was accompanied by Dr Uma Maheswar Arepalli on their educational trip to Kuala Lumpur and PETRONAS Twin Towers.

    Several short courses centred on Data Analysis, Latex presentations, Finance and Economics for engineers were organised to acquaint students with the emerging engineering technologies. Students were also introduced to UTP’s facilities, programmes, research capabilities, and campus life. In the words of Shravani Vedantham, “The UTP Campus and its students were so welcoming that they made our journey an unforgettable experience”. While as far as Vishnu is concerned, the exposure to international teaching methodologies was the best part of the trip.

    Students were also taken on study visits to cities such as Ipo and Penang to render them a brief cultural impression of the country. “The trip to Penang was my personal favourite. It is one of the best memories I have ever made”, exclaimed Payaswini. Other major highlights of the visits were Petrosains, the discovery centre, Batu Caves Temple, and KL Sentral. “The local tourist destinations, their architecture, culture, and street art were so mesmerising, and I am looking forward to more such experiences”, remarked Shravani. The UTP Centre for Student Development expressed its gratitude to SRMAP for being part of this global collaboration programme.

  • SRM University-AP organised Embassy Connect with 14 countries July 18, 2022

    Embassy connectThe office of International Relations and Higher Studies at SRM University-AP organised an Embassy Connect Programme, in which ambassadors, education attaches, cultural attaches of more than 14 countries and joint secretaries, and deputy secretaries of various regions from the Ministry of External Affairs participated.

    Dr Naga Swetha Pasupuleti, Associate Director, Office of International Relations and Higher Studies at SRM University-AP, facilitated the Embassy Connect hosted in Delhi. The interaction aimed to build a bridge between the participating countries and India by promoting and providing high-quality higher educational programmes and opportunities to all sections and geographies.

    Dy. Secretary for States from MEA – Mr Srinivas Reddy welcomed the gathering and emphasised the initiatives taken by the Government of India and how SRM University-AP can play a vital role in catering to global higher educational needs. Mr Aldrin Herwany, Education Attache from the Embassy of Indonesia, expressed keen interest in collaborating with SRM University- AP for exchange programmes, joint research and collaborations. While sharing some of his thoughts Mr Mahmoud A Ejweli, academic attache from the Embassy of Libya, said that India and Libya had always shared common interests almost since 1960 across several domains of Construction, Education and Health Care. He also added that India is the most sought destination for education.

    Mr Sevala Naik, joint Secretary for West Africa, shared the steps and framework put in place to promote and extend quality education to African nations. He also mentioned that SRM University is one of the few institutions that have been approved by the grant commission of India to support and cater to the digital/virtual educational needs of African Countries, and already 400 plus students have been enrolled this semester from African regions into SRM University through this initiative. He also strongly emphasised that Indian education is one of the strongest, most economical and second to none of world-class institutions. He said India is bridging gaps between nations through one of the strongest pillars of education and knowledge transfer and applauded the contribution by SRM University-AP in this regard. Dr Naga Swetha shared the support and initiatives taken up, various scholarships being extended to African, SAARC and other nations by SRM University-AP, stressing on the vision of SRM University-AP’s management to cater world-class education to every aspiring and deserving student irrespective of class/creed/region.

    Dr Naga Swetha emphasised and shared that SRM University-AP is home to a diverse, vibrant, and talented international student body. The office of International Relations and Higher Studies mete out effective services to the international student and scholar community. She also shared how the university is constantly thriving and becoming a global hub for opportunities, higher education, and entrepreneurship as it embarks on its 6th year of academic and research excellence.

  • Familiarisation Programme at UTP Malaysia July 15, 2022

    Global Immersion SRM APStudents from the second batch of students from SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, has completed the Familiarisation Programme at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia in the month of June. This is part of Global Immersion facilitated by the Office of International Relations and Higher Studies at SRM AP.

    Students and faculty mentors from SRM AP participated in several on and off-campus activities such as campus tours, cultural exchange, and recreational activities in UTP Malaysia. There were educational trips to Kuala Lumpur and PETRONAS Twin Towers. The students were accompanied by Dr Ashu Abdul , Assistant Professor at SRM University-AP.

    In the five-day programme, SRM University-AP students enrolled in two non-credited courses – Introduction to Technical Reporting & Latex Scripting and Data Analysis with R Statistics. The students were introduced to UTP’s facilities, programmes, research capabilities, and campus life as a part of the Familiarisation Programme.

    UTP Centre for Student Development (CSD) thanked SRM University-AP for entrusting them to provide our students with a global experience by participating in this programme.

    The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering could not be prouder as their student Sohith Chowdhary Akkineni turned out to be the next in the line of the lucky handful who has received admission offers from various world-class universities. Giving wings to the dreams of students makes the university a choice destination for next-generation where dreams are turned into reality.

    With its priority being, teaching the students to dream big and facilitating their journey ahead, more students have found a place to initiate the primary strides towards a world of opportunities looming ahead. They bring laurels back to the university by placing its name on the global map. Sohith Chowdary has also reciprocated his love and respect for SRM University-AP by making the best use of the conducive learning atmosphere, experienced faculty, and cutting-edge infrastructure which opened the doors for higher studies abroad. He received admission offers from the University of Maryland, Northeastern University-Boston, George Washington University with a scholarship of 25% of the tuition fee, and Rochester Institute of Technology with yet another whopping scholarship of $15,561.

    “I am indeed grateful to my HOD, Siva Sankar sir for giving me deeper insights into the course I have chosen, and to Swetha ma’am of International Relations Office for helping me get the necessary documents from the college. Besides, I would also like to thank all my professors, Sujith Kalluri sir, Gangi Reddy Salla sir, and Sateeshkrishna Dhuli sir for their Letters of Recommendation”, said Sohith. He also expressed his desire to start a career in the field of research in Telecommunication Networks.

    As a word of advice to his juniors, Sohith said, “Choose a course that interests you, rather than following everyone else, do research in the course you have chosen, and apply to international universities preferably before the priority deadline”. With the number of students enrolling into international universities rising, SRM University-AP continues to build a legacy of its own in the domain of global education.

    By earning a ticket to NYU Tandon School of Engineering for the Master’s programme, Students of Civil Engineering; Jayaram Chowdary Dasari, S Yogendra Gopinath and Leela Sujan Sai Borra have added one more feather in the department’s cap. It is a matter of joy and pride for the Department of Civil Engineering and the university as more and more students are getting admitted to international universities. Harnessing the true potential of each student and preparing them for a bigger world have always been the primary focus of SRM University-AP.

    They are groomed from a very early stage to reflect on their educational objectives and initiate the appropriate action. “I had started my preparation way ahead and cleared the GRE and IELTS tests, then I consulted my Professors Dr Bhagath sir, Dr Narasimha Murthy sir and Dr Uma Maheswar Rao sir for guidance and with their help, I shortlisted the universities and the best programmes which can fulfil my future goals,” said Yogendra.

    “We will never forget our faculty members for their immense support in helping us find the right universities, and also for the initiatives taken by the department such as conducting webinars to educate students about the application procedure for higher studies.” Borra and Jayaram also marked their gratitude to the department.

    The Office of International Relations at the university has also played a crucial part in their achievement as it walked them through the right procedures for an overseas application. “I shall forever be thankful to Dr Shweta ma’am for her valuable guidance on drafting an incredible SoP” added Yogendra.

    An enriching learning environment with exposure to global educational practices rendered at SRM University-AP will foster the right academic spirit in students and enable them to move ahead with better clarity of purpose. Also, training imparted by the expert faculty will help them gather deeper insights and transform themselves into professionals in their respective fields.
