While the maiden batch of the nascent SRM University-AP is ready to set foot for the next venture, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) proudly announces 100% successful placement for its students. The first-ever placement drive in SRM University-AP began last year amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, overcoming all the difficulties, the talented engineers of the CSE department found their passion and a job offer according to their will. The brilliant students of CSE bagged envious offers with the highest salary of 50 LPA and an average salary of 8 LPA. 71% of the students are placed with Super Dream and Dream offers, which is highly commendable.

Amid the unprecedented crisis, the hiring process was a difficult task to be performed for both the students and the recruiters. Corporate Relations and Career Services (CR&CS), the placement team of the university, has done an excellent job by conducting the placement drive with passion and dedication. The students were provided with every support they needed during these trying times. During their internships and projects in reputed companies, the students had hands-on experience, industry exposure, and became aware of the expectations of the corporate world. This experience helped the students to prepare for the job interviews. The numerous training sessions arranged by the CR&CS team for core and soft skill development brushed up their knowledge and personality. The mock interviews, sessions with corporate experts also assisted the students in their preparation. The interdisciplinary modernised curriculum provided the students with in-depth knowledge in their domain, strengthening their basic skills.

“Every moment at SRM-AP was so defining. Academics and research, 24×7 student-run Next Tech Lab, Semester Abroad and Entrepreneurship at UC Berkeley, USA and winning Hackathon in Bay area competing with MIT, Stanford and Carnegie Mellon gave us the wide exposure of the real world, which would not have been possible without the continuous support of our faculty and university management. Now, it is time that we start our life in Japan, and we are very much looking forward to the new chapter,” said Rajarshi Mazumder, who has received the highest offer of this season with a pay package of 50 LPA along with his twin Saptarshi. Sri Ritika Katragadda, who has been offered one of the best packages with 29.5 LPA, opined, “The selection process was tough, but with the extensive knowledge we gained in the classroom studies, I cleared it with ease.”

“The support I received from my professors and CR&CS team is unforgettable. I am forever grateful to their guidance, for being able to secure such a good offer,” said Sai Krishna Rohith, who bagged an offer of 20 LPA. “Prof Ragunathan is like a father figure to me. I can reach him anytime without any hesitation, even in case of a smallest doubt. All other faculty members were equally supportive,” asserted Venkata Sai Nikhith Nagamlla. Venkata also received an offer of 29.5 LPA.

Dr Satish Anamalamudi, Assistant Professor, in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering has published a research paper titled “Cooperative Caching Scheme for Machine-to-Machine Information-Centric IoT Networks” in the IEEE Canadian Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The research paper is co-authored by Dr Mohammed Saeed Alkatheiri and Dr Eesa Al Solami of University of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Dr Abdur Rashid Sangi of Yibin University, China.

According to the authors, Information-centric networks (ICNs), a foreseen future Internet architecture, focuses on the application content rather than its hosting location. With this, the existing Internet protocol (IP)-based host-centric communication model can be transformed into a content-centric communication model with the support of in-network caching, name-based routing, and location-independent content domain names. Recently, ICN is proposed to be a potential Internet architecture for Internet-of-Things (IoT) networks due to minimal retrieval delays and reduced load on the data producer. Content retrieval from IoT nodes plays a prominent role in enhancing the performance of the ICN-IoT networks. The in-network caching of ICN enhances the data availability in the network, overcome the issue of single-point failure, and improve IoT devices power efficiency. In this work, the authors explore a cooperative caching scheme for information-centric-IoT networks to optimize the cache hit with the support of a caching network topology model, a content popularity model, and an exogenous request access model.

Dr Satish says that ICN proposes to shift the existing complex Internet model to a simple and generic one. This approach considers the content as the first-class network citizen. In ICN, contents are addressed and routed by their unique names and are decoupled from the address of the node storing it. In this way, consumers ask for information by its name rather than its locality address. In ICN, every content is identified by using a unique, persistent and location-independent name. A wide set of IoT applications is inherently information-centric. In fact, the majority of IoT applications target data regardless of its source. For instance, environmental monitoring applications are oblivious to the information origin. ICN is a promising candidate for IoT environments. It can natively support IoT scenarios while improving data dissemination and reducing network complexity.

Dr Satish Anamalamudi had been a Research Engineer with Huawei Technologies, Beijing, China. He also worked with the Huaiyin Institute of Technology (HYIT), Huai’an, China, until February 2018. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh. His research interests include the common-control-channel design for MAC and routing protocols in cognitive radio ad hoc networks, MAC, and routing protocol design of Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G networks.

Student Testimonial

SRM AP is a great place to learn new things and what makes me excited about it is the excellent group of faculty and state-of-art infrastructure. Faculty at SRMAP are from reputed academies spread in and outside the country, and they are highly interactive with students. The training and placement cell organises personality development programmes, group discussions, mock interviews with industry experts, and personality development training sessions for the candidates. The all-round development training made me confident to face the challenges associated with interviews. Besides the aptitude and soft skills training, SRM AP provides CCC training for those who are very good at Computer Science Fundamentals and Coding. The curriculum followed by CCC was great and they were interactive with the students in clarifying their doubts in coding and as well as further rounds of interviews.

There was great motivation from the Corporate Relations and Career Services Department and faculty members. They trained me with the tips to clear the interview. I appreciate the efforts made by the CRCS department in bringing such top MNC’s like AMAZON, PAYPAL, AB InBev etc. Faculty members worked very hard for the success of each student, especially our HOD, Dr Raghunathan has been of firm support to all things associated with the CSE Department.
