Prof K Hema Chandra Reddy, Chairman, Andhra Pradesh State Council Of Higher Education, Prof V S Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Prof D Narayana Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor, faculty members, and more than 700 participants attended the lecture on “Art of Science in the Time of Virus and Beyond: The Brave New World”. For the first time, SRM AP presented welcome bouquet and virtual memento to Prof. Ashutosh Sharma. The virtual avatars were created by SRM AP students who used applications developed by them such as character creator and bundle software. Further, Prof D Narayana Rao extended the warmest welcome to the guests and commenced the programme. He informed, “DST has taken up the daunting task of making India as one of the world leaders in science and technology with several projects aimed at motivating and harnessing talent to be better equipped to face future challenges”.

Prof Hema Chandra Reddy delivered a brief speech on research initiatives in science and technology introduced by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He informed, “Government of AP is planning to establish AP state research board to promote multidisciplinary quality research and coordination among the universities.” Further, Prof Ashutosh Sharma took the virtual podium to speak about science, technology, and innovation. Picturesquely, he explained, “Innovation pertains to visual imaginations and thinking. Knowledge becomes sustainable when invention and innovation is balanced. Invention uses resources to produce knowledge, whereas innovation deploys knowledge to generate economic resources”.

Prof Sharma accentuated that Covid-19 taught us the lesson that sustainable development, which as a result of sustainable knowledge, can address major challenges.” Urging everyone to do their individual job well, Prof Sharma informed that capacity of learning is the most prized possession. He said, “Capacity to adapt to change, learn new things, and lifelong learning is paramount to thrive. The convergence of multiple disciplines has an instrumental role in solving crucial problems. Our education system must have parallel structures for multidisciplinary knowledge creation and research. We should be crossing borders of knowledge and expanding the boundaries of disciplines.”

Prof Sharma suggested the scientific community to become self-reliant. He said, “Quality, relevance, and appropriate direction of knowledge will lead the world. Coupled with it, cultural aspects such as self-confidence, and self-respect makes up the art of science.” Emphasizing on the importance of collaboration, Prof Sharma said, “Covid 19 spontaneously spurred the spirit of collaboration with a clear and shared purpose. Researchers should have a scientific temper which entails rational analysis of situation, positivity, optimism, and cooperation. • IDEA organises workshop on “Unleash the Leader in You” November 30, 2020

The Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (IDEA) of SRM University-AP is organising a workshop on “Unleash the Leader in You” on December 2, 2020, at 4 pm. Sri A Gopi Raja, Founder, Fopple Technologies Pvt. Ltd. is joining the workshop to share his journey with the budding leaders of tomorrow. Mr Udayan Bakshi, Associate director-IDEA and Founder- Startup Emporio and Socio Impacto is the coordinator for the workshop.

Every Seed has the potential to become a huge tree, sheltering thousands of lives. Similarly, every student or a person has the potential to influence the world in a unique and impactful way, through innovation (not necessarily technological) and leadership./p>

Just like we do not take birth with language proficiency, we learn it from our surroundings, family, and teachers. In the same way, the spirit of leadership and innovation can be learnt, the fire of passion can be ignited, and this all is an outcome of the right combination of a situation (opportunities) and our own initiatives and attitude.

Today we are privileged to interact with one such ‘hero’ who is fuelled with a passion for helping the poor farmers across the country, and he has been instrumental in serving the community in his own unique ways. He was awarded and rewarded by several authorities nationally and internationally. The government of India and the state government of AP and other states have acknowledged his passionate work and contribution several times.

Sri Gopi Raja, who is also popularly known as Drone Raja, is a very admired personality in the state of Andhra Pradesh and slowly popularising across India, serving thousands of farmers across India.

FOPPLE meant the fourth apple that will revolutionise the agriculture sector in India. The first apple was Adam and Eve’s one, the second one was Newton’s and the third belonged to Steve Job. This fourth one FOPPLE is from our country exclusively for the farming community.

There is scope for an innovative brain to bring a rapid change in the way we perform traditional farming, announces GOPI RAJA the founder of FOPPLE TECHNOLOGIES PVT LTD. a start-up headquartered in Kankipadu, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The son of a farmer saw how his father’s health deteriorates after spraying fertilisers in their farms. He wanted to bestow an innovation upon him that would perform his duty without any side effects. This noble intention gave birth to the nation’s first agriculture drone, a need of every farmer across the country.

Let us get enriched with his experience, passion, expertise, and his story, which might ignite a few more passionate Gopi Rajas from the student community who can truly transform the society.

  • Department of Computer Science invites Dr Sridharan R to share insights on “Baby steps towards Quantum Computing” November 28, 2020

Dr Sridharan R will be hosting a session arranged by the Department of Computer Science, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh on December 3, 2020, at 11.30 AM. During the session, the revered mathematician will be delivering a lecture on “Baby steps towards Quantum Computing”. Dr Sridharan R researched on “Efficient placement of VMs and containers on cloud and edge resources” to obtain his Doctorate in Mathematics. In his career spanning over 25 years, his portfolio of research domains includes correctness Debugger and Profilers for Parallel and Distributed computing, as well as Grid and Cloud computing. Further, his current research interest involves Cloud Computing and Quantum Computing. Quantum computing is the use of quantum phenomena such as superposition and entanglement to perform computation. Capable of moving both backward and forward in time, quantum particles can exist in two places at the same time and even ‘teleport’. This subject has gained immense popularity in the modern days as Quantum computers will have enhanced efficiency by using quantum bits or qubits instead of the simple manipulation of ones and zeros.
