Second BW Businessworld Education Engineering Excellence Conclave saw a panel discussion on ‘Industry-Academia Collaboration towards Engineering Education Excellence’.
In the education industry, industrial exposure or collaboration is of paramountcy. In India, this collaboration of on-field experience and academia has been neglected for years and if the focus isn’t shifted towards this collaboration then India is going to have a lack of skilled workforce, professional and technical people.

July, 2019: Jamshed Bharucha, VC of SRM AP, Amaravati was invited as a panel member in the second edition of BW Businessworld Engineering Conclave held in New Delhi. In the premise of increasing dynamism in the industry, the discussion on ” Future Skills: Are our engineers ready to adopt the global changes?” hold its own relevance.Bharucha expressed his concern saying, ” Most of the engineers are not working in their field. What is missing from the curriculum is skill development that would help in learning new things. We are still following a failed way of learning i.e. passive learning, where the communication is one way but in SRM, we promote active learning by involving students during the process of learning as this will facilitate the problem-solving skills”. SRM AP has active learning classrooms where regular sessions are designed with a relentless focus on improving student learning outcomes and ensuring student success in high-demand careers. Our students actively participate and engage in discussion, debates, and conversations that intrigues their interest and improves their skills. Also, for the first time in India, SRM AP introduces Collegiate Accelerator Programme presented by Minerva forum to advance the intellectual development of each student.

Driven by global collaboration and best practices, it accepts the SAT score as part of the admission process. The consortium will support students through attractive scholarships and foster the development of Indian universities into world-class institutions.

PyCon X Italy, May 2019: Aakanksha Chouhan, 2nd Year CSE student and member of Minsky group at Next Tech Lab gave an invited talk at PyCon X Italia in Florence, Italy. She was the youngest invited and funded speaker at the International conference on Python programming and its applications.Aakanksha elaborated on her research at Next Tech Lab on better understanding Synesthesia using Artificial Intelligence. Her work in deep learning led her to exploring creative applications of AI. Aakanksha’s talk was attended by over 400 people and was well received by the community.
PyCon Italia is attended by thousands of experienced programmers, computer scientists and industry veterans looking to hire top talent in Italy. The conference was sponsored by industry leaders like Python Software Foundation, Intel, and IBM.
The event was held at the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo and hosted several speakers from around the world for the 4 day multi-track conference.

May, 2019: Following discussions between SRM APs Biology research team (initiated by SRM AP Pro VC Prof. Narayana Rao and Dr. S. Chandrasekhar, Director CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad) and the Applied Biology division of CSIR-IICT, Dr. Manjunatha Thondamal, Assistant Professor, Department of Biological Sciences at SRM AP, was invited to establish a C. elegans facility at IICT campus and train the scientists/students.
