Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA)

Introduction

The Paari School of Business is happy to announce a new programme, the Executive Master’s of Business Administration (EMBA). This programme is meant for working professionals and will be a blended one (60% face to face and 40% online). Numerous working professionals in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telengana are not able to quit their jobs (due to a variety of reasons) and pursue an MBA programme. This EMBA programme is meant for such working professionals.

Faculty

Faculty would be a mix of full time faculty from Paari School of Business, SRM University-AP and visiting faculty from relevant companies and suitable industry and teaching experience. Full-time faculty of Paari School of Business are excellent teachers with PhDs from leading B schools in India and abroad.

Fees

The fees would be Rs. 5 lakhs for the entire two year programme. This would include tuition and all related fees, food and transport (from centralized locations in Guntur and Vijayawada to campus). Exam and convocation fees would be extra, as per University norms. Those that require accommodation near campus would need to pay Rs 100000 extra (for the entire two years).

Intended Participants

This programme is meant for working executives. Executives could be working in any industry in any functional area. This programme is also suitable for people who run their own businesses or part of a family-run business. This programme is also suitable for entrepreneurs who have started their business recently.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Executives/working professionals need to have an Undergraduate degree in any discipline and a minimum of two years experience in order to be eligible for this programme. Applicants would be selected following a scrutiny of their academic performance and a personal interview.

Frequently Asked Questions

The fees would be Rs. 5 lakhs (payable in two equal instalments of Rs. 2.5 lakhs each at the beginning of each academic year). This would cover tuition, cost of course materials, transport from centralized locations in Guntur and Vijayawada, breakfast, lunch and two snacks and tea on weekends.

If outstation students wish to avail of accommodation facilities, they need to intimate us beforehand and we would arrange twin sharing, air conditioned rooms at Rs 1 lakh (for the entire two rooms) extra.

The exam and convocation fees currently are Rs. 10000 in total. This may vary a little from year to year.

Fully online learning may not ensure optimum learning. Further, key components of Executive MBA programmes are the peer learning experience, interaction with reputed faculty, the campus experience and the fun times with classmates. All this is enabled with face to face classes.

At the same time, online learning involves flexibility, convenience and zero commuting time. Hence, the programme is a blended/hybrid one: 60% face to face and 40% online.

The pedagogy would vary from course to course. Some courses would involve case studies and while others would involve use of in class exercises with relevant software. However, all courses would be application-oriented.

The faculty would be a mix full-time (60-80%) and visiting (20-40%) faculty depending upon availability and choice of electives. All faculty would be experienced and well-qualified. Visiting faculty would be drawn from relevant companies.

If the majority of the class wishes to have a summer break, we are willing to give one for 2-3 weekends. If the majority does not want a summer break, we will not have one.

Typically every alternate weekends would feature face to face classes, 6 hours on Saturdays and 3 on Sundays (a few Sundays may have 4.5). If a weekend has face to face classes, the subsequent one would have online classes on Saturday (4.5-6 hours) and Sunday would be free.

Yes, students would need to do two projects. One project would be a research-based, group project in an industry of the group’s choice. Another one would be individual in the company the student works in. Apart from these, numerous courses would have projects as part of the courses themselves. Further details would be provided on joining the programme.

Yes, there would be the following prizes: Best overall student, best female student, best male student, best student in Marketing, best student in Finance, best student in Operations, best student in Analytics, best student in Strategy and HR and best student in Entrepreneurship and Family Business. Prizes would involve a certificate and a cash award depending upon University norms.

Yes, to encourage entrepreneurs have a back-up plan, we allow people that have started their own companies to apply. In this case, we would relax the two years experience criterion based on an expert committee’s recommendations.

Yes, when there are face to face classes on campus, buses from centralized locations in Vijayawada and Guntur would be provided. Exact locations would be finalized based on students’ requirements 15 days before start of the programme.

The programme would start in July 2023 and end in July 2025.

Many of our students would be from outside of Vijayawada and Guntur. If they request for accommodation, we can arrange twin sharing comfortable rooms near our campus at a cost of Rs 1 lakh for the entire two years. These students would also be picked up and dropped from their rooms to campus when classes are there on campus. If they wish to, outstation students are also free to find their own accommodation and we would pick them from centralized locations in Vijayawada and Guntur.

There would be six terms of four months each. Thus, the programme would be for 2 years in all.

Yes, most courses would have exams. Exams would be held face to face on campus on a weekend at the end of each term. Grading and evaluation would be as per University norms.

All students would choose one major and one minor. The following majors and minors would be offered: Marketing, Finance, Operations, Analytics, Entrepreneurship and Family Business, Strategy & Human Resource Management (subject to sufficient quorum in each). The quorum would depend on the class size.

In case a major festival or public holiday happens to fall on a weekend, there would be no classes on such days. In every term, 1-2 weekends are kept as buffer/cushion and classes would be held on these buffer/cushion weekends in case of such exigencies.

Students on successful completion of the programme would get an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) Certificate. Thus, students would get a post graduate degree certificate and not merely a post graduate diploma.
