Internationally renowned historian, anthropologist, and a great leader, Dr. Nicholas enlightens the youth

Dr. Nicholas B. Dirks was named the 10th Chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley on November 8, 2012, and served in that role from June 1, 2013 to July 1, 2017. Currently serving as the Honorary Pro-Chancellor of SRM University, he is a leader in higher education and well-known for his commitment to and advocacy for accessible, high-quality undergraduate education, to the globalization of the university, and to innovation and collaboration across the disciplines and between universities and outside partners. While Chancellor, Dr. Dirks launched an undergraduate initiative, which occasioned unprecedented cooperation among the Deans of undergraduate colleges and the appointment of the first Vice-Chancellor of Undergraduate Education. Dr. Dirks convened a group of faculty who developed a new set of courses in data science across the curriculum (and led to the appointment of the first Dean of Data Science).

400 companies to hire from SRM University Amaravati campus
VIJAYAWADA: The chancellor of the SRM University, TR Parivendhar, said that about 400 corporate companies are ready to hire students from the varsity’s Amaravati campus.
While interacting with the students here on Thursday, he suggested that they should prepare for campus placements right from the first year. He said that campus placements were opportunities to get into top corporate firms with high pay packs.

Poverty an impediment to growth: Dr V K Saraswat
GUNTUR: Niti Ayog member and Padmabhushan awardee Dr V.K. Saraswat asserted the need of using science and technology for progress in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors which would improve the livelihood of people. He inaugurated a two-day Tech Fest at SRM University in Amaravati on Wednesday. Addressing the students, he lamented that ‘though India has achieved a lot of development in the fields of science and technology, poverty is yet to be overcome.” He sought students to conduct scientific researches for the improvement of people’s living condition.
