ISB Orientation Session for MBA Aspirants by Mr Arun Prakash

The Department of International Relations and Higher Studies (IR&HS) is organising a seminar on “ISB Orientation Session for MBA Aspirants” on February 26, 2024. The seminar is aimed at pre-final or final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students who want to equip themselves with multidisciplinary perspectives, thinking skills, and research tools before they begin their Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management.

The seminar aims to provide valuable insights to students who are exploring different career goals and considering admission to B-schools. The seminar will delve into various aspects of the decision-making process, including the benefits and drawbacks of choosing a one-year MBA versus a traditional two-year programme, the differences between a Master’s in Management (MIM) and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), and the key distinctions between global business schools and regular business schools. Additionally, the seminar will also explore the possibilities of pursuing an MBA in India versus an MBA abroad, the merits of a full-time MBA versus an executive MBA, and offer guidance on how to shortlist the best options based on individual career aspirations. He got his Post Graduation in Management from Osmania university and has been working in the higher education space, handling the domestic and abroad education market.

  • Save the soil for a greener tomorrow September 2, 2022

    The Save Soil movement was launched by the yogi, mystic, and the visionary, Sadhguru, around three decades ago as a small step that would contribute towards his lifetime vision of raising Human Consciousness. Over time, it snowballed into a global movement garnering support from international and national agencies and uniting people worldwide to affirm their commitment to restore the planet by advocating for the health and future of our soil.

  • SRM AP to ink an MoU with the Rennes School of Business August 22, 2022

    Indo-French Collaboration MeetThe diplomatic relations between India and France have been prevalent, and cooperation has developed in all major areas, including science and technology. Delegate visits are excellent opportunities to strengthen international partnerships and promote the mission of an educational institution. The Office of International Relations and Higher Studies is all set to host the Indo-French Collaboration Meet for inking an MoU with the Rennes School of Business.

    The ceremony aims to to sign the Student Exchange Agreement. A meeting with Pro-Vice-chancellor Prof D Narayana Rao and the team will be held after an opening remark by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof V S Rao. There will be discussions regarding the collaboration and the road map ahead. Registrar Dr R Premkumar, DEAN of SEAMS Dr Bharadwaj, and Associate Director of IR&HS Dr Naga Swetha Pasupuleti will also grace the occasion with their august presence.

  • Kondapalli toys; the geographical indication handicrafts of Andhra Pradesh August 17, 2022

    IR and HS workshopThe legacy of India’s craft culture always occupies a special spot owing to its beauty, dignity, form, style, and aesthetics. India is traditionally known for its rural village and wooden cottage Industries. Among them, Andhra Pradesh has glorious rural artisan handmade traditions in toys. The office of International Relations and Higher Studies conducted a workshop on August 16, 2022, to promote and celebrate the dignity of Kondapalli Toys. These toys are one of the geographical indication handicrafts from Andhra Pradesh.

    IR and HS workshopThe workshop belongs to the series of sessions organised as part of Aadigyan, the social leadership programme. Mr Durga Prasad, a traditional Kondapalli artisan of Andhra Pradesh, handled the workshop for two hours. He demonstrated the process of crafting the toys and explained their history. Various tools used for wood carving, division of labor among male and female artisans, social implications of the toys, etc., were discussed in this interactive session. Volunteered students also learned some wood carving basics from the artisan himself.

    The rural industry holds a share of ten percent in the decentralised sector. The handicrafts industry is one of the major sectors that offer employment opportunities to a larger number of individuals. Yet the 400 years old industry is not getting the attention it deserves due to a lack of promotion and awareness. Sandeep Samala, the programme coordinator, highlighted the need for spreading the heritage of Kondapalli toys among the younger generation. He also explained how the industry could be approached from a startup’s perspective to amplify the toys’ promotion.

  • US delegates to visit SRM university-AP July 11, 2022

    US Delegates to visit SRM APInternational collaborations have always played a significant part in locating the majesty of SRM university-AP in the education sector. The Office of International Relations and Higher Studies is hosting the US delegate visit on July 12, 2022, from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. The visit intends a productive interaction between the visiting delegates and the institution’s faculty. Mr Kumar Yelamarthi and Mr Vijay Devabhaktuni are dignified guests who will grace the occasion with their valuable presence. The interaction will be happing in the Board room of the university and will offer the students an opportunity to interconnect with the delegates.

    About the delegates

    Mr Kumar Yelamarthi is the Associate Dean and Professor at the College of Engineering at TTU. He has over 15 years of research experience in embedded system, mobile robotics, and integrated circuit design. He also has more than ten years of experience in the areas of nanoscale integrated circuit design, CAD tool development, design automation, etc. More than 150 articles of his have been published in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He taught a diverse range of classes from freshman through graduate PhD levels on various topics. He has introduced several new classes into the undergraduate curriculum for computer or electrical engineering technology majors.

    Mr Vijay Devabhaktuni received his PhD from Carleton University, Canada, with a senate medal. Between 2005 and 2008, he held the prestigious Canada Research Chair at Concordia University, Canada. After serving the University of Toledo between 2008 and 2018 in academic and research leadership roles, he served Purdue University Northwest as ECE Chair between 2018 and 2021. Currently, he is the Department Chair and Norman Stetson Professor of ECE at the University of Maine. His vision is to transform traditional course-based learning into experiential-based and soft skill-based learning for GenZ students.

    Mr Rajesh Balasubramanian is an Electrical Engineer from IIT, Madras, Class of 2001 and completed his PGDM from IIM Bangalore in 2003. He runs 2IIM’s CAT program and has built most of the content for the 2IIM CAT Online Course.He scored 100th percentile in CAT 2011, CAT 2012, CAT 2014 and CAT 2017. Rajesh also runs PiVerb – an Ed-Tech company that focuses on teaching math intuitively to students from class V to class X.

    Mr K S Baskar founded 2IIM and continues to head the parent company. He is a Mechanical Engineer from College of Engineering, Guindy, Class of 1991 and completed his PGDM from IIM Calcutta in 1994. Baskar runs Wizako, the Market leader for online coaching for GMAT and GRE in India. Baskar has been a trainer for 25 years and has mentored more than 25000 students. Several of his students are graduates from IIM A, B, C, Harvard, Wharton and Stanford.

    He served as Vice-chairman for Woxsen University and is currently working as CEO at Ashoka School of Business.

    He gave CAT 17 times and scored 100% 4 times. He also holds a 339 out of 340 in GRE and a 9 on 9 in IELTS.
