About the Speaker:

Dr Buyya is the founder and CEO of Manjrasoft, a spin-off firm of the University of Melbourne that commercialises the university’s cloud computing inventions. From 2012 to 2016, he was a Future Fellow of the Australian Research Council. He has over 625 publications and seven textbooks to his credit, including “Mastering Cloud Computing,” which was published by McGraw Hill, China Machine Press, and Morgan Kaufmann for the Indian, Chinese, and international markets. He also edited numerous publications, including “Cloud Computing: Principles and Paradigms” and “Cloud Computing: Principles and Paradigms” (Wiley Press, USA, Feb 2011). The Microsoft Academic Search Index ranked Dr Buyya as the #1 author in the world (2005-2016) for both field rating and citation evaluations in the area of Distributed and Parallel Computing. Dr Buyya was named the World’s Top-Cited (#1) Author and the World’s Most-Productive (#1) Author in Cloud Computing by German scientists in “A Scientometric Analysis of Cloud Computing Literature.” He has been named a “2016 Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher” by Thomson Reuters, as well as a Fellow of IEEE and Scopus Researcher of the Year 2017 with Elsevier’s Excellence in Innovative Research Award. He founded the IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing and served as its first Editor-in-Chief. He is currently the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Software: Practice and Experience, a publication that has been around for almost 45 years.

School of Entrepreneurship and Management Studies (SEAMS), SRM University-AP is arranging another mind awakening session of the Webinar series on “Stress Management in the Post Covid Era” on July 17, 2021, at 3.00 pm. Former HOD and Associate Dean, IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, Prof Pramod Pathak will be the main speaker and trainer of the event. The aim of the webinar is to impart effective stress management strategies for post-Covid-19 life.

For more than a year, people have been dealing with the deadly virus, Covid-19. According to reports, half of the population is stressed due to events such as unemployment, isolation, sudden illness and death. In recent times, post covid stress disorder is common among individuals who have developed new routines which will change once again after the lockdowns are fully lifted. It is essential to learn tricks, tips and strategies from experts to cope and relieve stress. Prof. A.V.S. Kamesh, Dr Aparna Choudhary, and Dr Sumit Kumar from SEAMS, SRM University-AP will be the hosts of this webinar.

Attend the interactive and productive session on July 17, 2021, at 3.00 pm to know more about stress management and evidence-based resources to navigate the stress of the post-covid-19 conditions.

About the Speaker:

Dr Pathak is a corporate trainer, management consultant, international public speaker, and columnist for top newspapers and magazines. He is also the founder of the Goodness Movement and Kaizen Mantra (a training consulting firm). He has worked on Consultancy Assignments for organizations like World Bank, Ministry of Coal (GOI), Ministry of Labour (GOI), Ministry of Youth Affairs (GOI), Government of Jharkhand, Indian Oil Corporation, Power Grid Corporation of India, Coal India Ltd, Orissa State Pollution. Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRM University-AP organises a talk on “Design of Modern MW Size Wind Turbine Rotor Blades” as part of the departmental seminar series on July 17, 2021, at 4.00 pm. Dr Subbareddy Daggumati, Assistant Professor at IIT Tirupati will be the guest speaker at the event. This talk aims to highlight the various energy sources in India and the role of renewable energy in electricity production.

Dr Daggumati obtained his PhD from Ghent University, Belgium. He had been the wind turbine blade designer at Siemens and General Electric Co. In this lecture, he will elucidate on the energy production using wind energy. The kinetic energy of wind is collected using the blades of wind turbines. Wind flows over the blades creating lift (similar to the effect on aeroplane wings), which causes the blades to turn. The blades are connected to a drive shaft that turns an electric generator, which produces (generates) electricity. The lecture will consequently introduce various parts of modern MW size wind turbine parts to the attendees. The methods to develop wind turbine rotor blade designs will also be discussed in detail.

Join this technical lecture organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering on July 17 at 4.00 pm to learn more about the design of modern MW size wind turbine rotor blades.

The Department of Electrical and Communication Engineering at SRM University-AP is organising a webinar session on the topic “Insights into Signal Processing @ ECE Department SRM AP” on July 24, 2021, Saturday, at 6.00 pm. Prof Priya Ranjan from the department will elucidate on the topic via the zoom platform.

Signal processing is a widely used technology that pervades every aspect of our lives. Signal describes how some physical quantity varies over time or space for example sound pressure, radio/television broadcast, movies, electrocardiogram etc. Signal processing is a subfield of electrical engineering that involves manipulating a signal to change the basic characteristics of a signal or to extract some information from it. This is performed by computers, special purpose integrated circuits or Analog electrical circuits.

To know more about analysing, modifying, and synthesising signals with the Department of ECE, join this invigorative webinar on July 24, 2021, from 6.00 pm onwards.
