VIT, Amrita University will complement the effort, says Chief Minister

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said he was committed to developing the State into a knowledge hub and described the commencement of the SRM University (SRMU) as the first step in that direction. State government assures it of all possible help

If SRM University succeeds in its endeavours to develop indigenous hydrogen- powered passenger trains, Andhra Pradesh Secretariat will be first location in the country where it will be run to ferry its employees.

The SRM University has chalked out plans to work on hydrogen-powered trains, for which the State government has agreed to “extend its all possible help.” The university is holding talks with Integral Coach Factory (ICF) at Perambur near Chennai. The University is looking for an engine and two coaches and a track to conduct the experiments. It will take at least two years to take the project, christened as Jal Janak Rail, to a logical conclusion. (more…)

SRM University takes up prestigious project

Amaravati, Nov 21 (UNI) SRM University has taken up a prestigious and mega research project “Hyderabad Train-KalJanak Rail” for the first time in the country in partnership with Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai.
SRM University Pro-Vice-chancellor Prof. D Narayana Rao announced this at an interactive session “Hydrogen Train”, which was held at SRM-Andhra Pradesh campus, in Amaravati, on Tuesday with faculty members and students taking part. (more…)

SRM University Amaravati to set up School of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences

SRM University on Wednesday announced the setting up of School of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences (SLABS) at its campus in Amaravati.

Vijayawada: Dr P Sathyanarayanan, President, SRM University, Andhra Pradesh, in a programme here on Wednesday announced the setting up of School of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences (SLABS) at its university campus in Amaravati.

SLABS will have its first intake of students in 2018 and will offer B.A, B.B.A, B.Com and B.Sc programmes across 12 departments – Economics, English, History, Journalism, Psychology, Business Studies, Commerce, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Computer Science. “Today, we face increasingly complex issues and challenges, and tackling these calls for multi-dimensional thought processes and problem solving skills.
