In the wake of Admissions-2021, the Department of Commerce is holding a formal webinar on “Salient features and career options for BCom (Hons) at SRM University-AP”, highlighting the contemporary aspects of the subject and the career paths that one can choose after pursuing Commerce in our university. Dr A Lakshmana Rao and Dr Shailendra Singh from the Department of Commerce, SRM University-AP, will elucidate on the topic on July 16, 2021, from 4.00 pm onwards.

The vision of the Department of Commerce under the School of Entrepreneurship and Management Studies (SEAMS) is to prepare agents of change in business, life, and society. The department, which has highly experienced faculty with international exposure, aims to build business leaders who represent the university in global standards. SVS Sri Harsha, a final-year BSc Computer Science student at SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, receives admission offers from India’s top business schools. As an extremely meritorious student, he has qualified CAT, XAT, NMAT and SNAP. He scored a percentile of 98.9 in CAT and has got the opportunity to study MBA at any one of the IIMs in Shillong, Kozhikode, Raipur, and Bodh Gaya. In addition to these apex management institutes, he has also received offers from XLRI-Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur; Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad; NMIMS, Mumbai; Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune; and International Management Institute, Delhi. He hails from Vijayawada and completed his schooling in Delhi.

To introduce emerging technologies and burgeoning fields of innovation, the Department of Corporate Relations and Career Services (CR&CS) has been organising a series of industry readiness webinars from time to time. The eighteenth session of this webinar series, titled “The Future of Technologies” will be held on June 19, 2021, Saturday, at 5:30 pm. Experienced HR recruiter Mr Joshua David, who is currently associated with Mphasis, Chennai, will educate and groom the job aspiring students on this topic.

Srikant has been preparing for a year to perfectly fit the company’s recruitment process. He underwent rigorous training programmes conducted by the Department of Corporate Relations and Career Services. Mock tests were conducted at regular intervals with industry experts to polish his coding and aptitude skills. In addition to this, separate sessions by Career Development Centre (CDC) were carried out to develop his soft skills to qualify for the final interview rounds.

SRM University-AP has begun a series of Webinars to introduce its departments and courses to aspiring applicants of the undergraduate degree programmes. Different departments are presenting interactive sessions to provide an overview of their respective courses and additional resources that SRM University-AP students have access to during their academic years. The Department of Biological Sciences hosts a similar seminar to enlighten enthusiastic students with an overview of the BSc (Hons) in Integrative Biology and the career options associated with it. Prof Jayaseelan Murugaiyan, Head of the Department of Biological Sciences, will educate the audience with an in-depth discussion on the subject and why it will be beneficial to pursue the BSc in Integrative Biology from SRM University-AP. Prof Jayaseelan Murugaiyan is a senior scientist and subject matter expert who previously worked as the Scientist & Group Leader (Proteomics) at the Institute of Animal Hygiene and Environmental Health, Center for Infectious Medicine, Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. He taught at many national institutes and an international institute, Germany’s Freie Universitaet-Dhalem Berlin’s Research School of Biomedical Sciences. He is the author of almost 50 papers in biological sciences and studies. Vasika Venugopal and Gadupudi Gowtham, 3rd-year BSc Biology students have achieved the extraordinary by securing admissions to prominent global universities. Ms Vasika Venugopal has been admitted to more than eight prestigious higher education institutions both within and outside India. She has decided to accept the admission offer from the University of Bordeaux in France for the Bordeaux International Masters in Neuroscience Program. According to her, this master’s programme offers a unique multidisciplinary and integrated training approach that encompasses all the main areas of brain research, from normal brain processes to brain diseases.

Another inspiring student from the same department is Gowtham Gadupudi who has recently enrolled in The Life Science and Health-International Track master’s program at the University of Paris-Saclay in France. An invited lecture, “Technologies for Connected Vehicles”, will be organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, on June 19, 2021, at 11.00 am. In this online session, Dr Ramani Kalpathi, guest faculty at BITS Pilani, will give an introduction to intravehicle networks with a focus on CAN, LIN, Flexray, MOST, Ethernet, and Bluetooth networks introducing the frame formats, sample hardware implementation, and SAE formats.

Dr Ramani Kalpathi is also the founder of Powersoft Systems and The ARM Academy. He earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, USA, and M.S in Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras. The use of Wifi and IoT technologies and their presence for ubiquitous networks with typical samples of synchronous messages will be presented for connected technologies, during the lecture. Implementation of Electric vehicles and the need for continuous data monitoring for autonomous vehicles may also be discussed for the purpose of diagnostics and reliability.
