SRM University, Chennai and SRM University AP – Amaravati have entered into a strategic partnership with the College of Engineering, UC Berkeley, through global partnerships with the Dado and Maria Banatao Centre for Global Education and Outreach from Berkeley Engineering (GLOBE), the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology [SCET] and the Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandra Babu Naidu and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, M Venkaih Naidu inaugurated the first university, SRM University AP- Amaravati in the state capital region on July 15, 2017. VIT, Amrita University will complement the effort, says Chief Minister

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said he was committed to developing the State into a knowledge hub and described the commencement of the SRM University (SRMU) as the first step in that direction. Together with the VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) University, getting ready for inauguration in August, and the Amrita University, Amaravati, the State was going to evolve into an educational centre of global standards, he asserted.  (more…)

State government assures it of all possible help

If SRM University succeeds in its endeavours to develop indigenous hydrogen- powered passenger trains, Andhra Pradesh Secretariat will be first location in the country where it will be run to ferry its employees.

The SRM University has chalked out plans to work on hydrogen-powered trains, for which the State government has agreed to “extend its all possible help.” The university is holding talks with Integral Coach Factory (ICF) at Perambur near Chennai. The University is looking for an engine and two coaches and a track to conduct the experiments. It will take at least two years to take the project, christened as Jal Janak Rail, to a logical conclusion. (more…)
