The Department of Economics is hosting a webinar on “Salient Features and Career Opportunities for BSc (Hons) Economics at SRM University AP” on June 25, 2021, at 4.00 pm to discuss the thrust areas of Economics. Dr Suvvari Anandarao, Assistant Professor in the department, will introduce students to the theoretical and analytical foundations of economics careers.

In the webinar, Dr Anandarao will detail the industries and job roles available for graduates and discuss the best ways to attain internships and jobs in the industry. Students who choose to pursue a BSc in Economics at SRM University-AP participate in a three-year full-time programme that aims to impart global standards-based curriculum. The objective of the programme is to develop a class of economists who are proficient not just in theory but also in practical expertise to address and analyse real-world problems.

People across the world are celebrating the seventh international day of Yoga on the theme “Yoga for well-being”. As the celebration has been scaled down due to the pandemic, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh is celebrating the day by conducting a virtual talk on “Patanjali’s Eight Limbs of Yoga-Steps Towards Mastering Oneself” on June 21, 2021, at 5.00 pm.

Prof Vajja Sambasiva Rao, Vice-Chancellor, and Prof D Narayana Rao, Pro-Vice-Chancellor SRM University-AP will address the virtual gathering. The Heartfulness Centre at Vijayawada collaborates with our university to observe the day with lectures and yoga sessions from Dr K Tirupati Rao, Sri Srinivasa Rao (Trainers), and Ms Harshada Kulkarni, Visiting Faculty at IDEA, SRM University-AP.

The International Yoga Day was first proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a speech to the United Nations and has been observed worldwide every year since June 21, 2015, to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of yoga for health. In this unprecedented times of Covid-19, incorporating yoga into one’s routine is beneficial. Yoga is believed to be effective for the psycho-social care and rehabilitation of Covid-19 patients in quarantine and isolation. The programme aims to enlighten the students about the different yoga postures and the virtues of meditation.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, introduces the globally recognised American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) membership programmes to its students.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a non-profit establishment formed for the global engineers’ community that promotes collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enhancement, and skill development. ASME Student Chapter helps university engineering students develop their professional identity and provides essential engagement opportunities by offering access to a wide range of activities and resources such as membership, competitions, scholarships, student sections and much more.

The engineering curriculum is not restricted to the theoretical aspects but involves practical applications. The collaboration with ASME will help students of our university to find engineering-related job articles, online journals, webinars, and workshops on a single platform. Students will be exposed to niche career paths and opportunities across industries where they can apply their mechanical engineering education to address critical issues facing the globe. Students can get in touch with experienced professionals all around the world through the ASME mentoring programme and seek careers or any other type of guidance.

SRM University-AP collaborates with global organisations to promote international exposure of students. In collaboration with ASME, the Department of Mechanical Engineering will be organising webinars and workshops by eminent faculties of the institute, where they will share their experiences and knowledge with the participants. The programme aims to create extraordinary learning experiences for the students to carry out many activities under this umbrella and fulfil the expectations of ASME.

Dr Prakash Jadav, Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, will be acting as faculty adviser for this chapter which is headed by Tushar Sahu.

The department of Physics at SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh offers an interdisciplinary BSC (Hons) programme that provides practical training to students on the model and design solutions. In the interactive webinar titled “Salient Features and Career Options for BSc (Hons) Physics at SRM University AP”, Dr Sabyasachi Mukhopadhyay, assistant professor from the Department of Physics will explicate the career options and higher education opportunities of BSc Physics on June 22, 2021, at 4.00 pm.

In the wake of Admissions-2021, the Department of Commerce is holding a formal webinar on “Salient features and career options for BCom (Hons) at SRM University-AP”, highlighting the contemporary aspects of the subject and the career paths that one can choose after pursuing Commerce in our university. Dr A Lakshmana Rao and Dr Shailendra Singh from the Department of Commerce, SRM University-AP, will elucidate on the topic on July 16, 2021, from 4.00 pm onwards.

The vision of the Department of Commerce under the School of Entrepreneurship and Management Studies (SEAMS) is to prepare agents of change in business, life, and society. SVS Sri Harsha, a final-year BSc Computer Science student at SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh, receives admission offers from India’s top business schools. As an extremely meritorious student, he has qualified CAT, XAT, NMAT and SNAP. He scored a percentile of 98.9 in CAT and has got the opportunity to study MBA at any one of the IIMs in Shillong, Kozhikode, Raipur, and Bodh Gaya. In addition to these apex management institutes, he has also received offers from XLRI-Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur; Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad; NMIMS, Mumbai; Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune; and International Management Institute, Delhi. To introduce emerging technologies and burgeoning fields of innovation, the Department of Corporate Relations and Career Services (CR&CS) has been organising a series of industry readiness webinars from time to time. The eighteenth session of this webinar series, titled “The Future of Technologies” will be held on June 19, 2021, Saturday, at 5:30 pm. Experienced HR recruiter Mr Joshua David, who is currently associated with Mphasis, Chennai, will educate and groom the job aspiring students on this topic.

SRM University-AP has begun a series of Webinars to introduce its departments and courses to aspiring applicants of the undergraduate degree programmes. Different departments are presenting interactive sessions to provide an overview of their respective courses and additional resources that SRM University-AP students have access to during their academic years. The Department of Biological Sciences hosts a similar seminar to enlighten enthusiastic students with an overview of the BSc (Hons) in Integrative Biology and the career options associated with it. Prof Jayaseelan Murugaiyan, Head of the Department of Biological Sciences, will educate the audience with an in-depth discussion on the subject and why it will be beneficial to pursue the BSc in Integrative Biology from SRM University-AP. Prof Jayaseelan Murugaiyan is a senior scientist and subject matter expert who previously worked as the Scientist & Group Leader (Proteomics) at the Institute of Animal Hygiene and Environmental Health, Center for Infectious Medicine, Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. He taught at many national institutes and an international institute, Germany’s Freie Universitaet-Dhalem Berlin’s Research School of Biomedical Sciences.
