What is Smart India Hackathon 2020?

Message from our Government:

Smart India Hackathon 2020 is a nationwide initiative to provide students with a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving. In SIH 2020, the students would have the opportunity to work on challenges faced within various Ministries, Departments, Industries, PSUs and NGOs to create world-class solutions for some of the top organizations including industries in the world, thus helping the Private sector hire the best minds from across the nation.

What is a Hackathon?

“A hackathon is a 24-48 hour marathon of building, creating, producing, delivering and pitching a product, in a short amount of time.“
During the 24 hours of this hackathon, you are expected to apply your skills to solve one of the 300+ problem statements and provide a working product at the end of the 24 hours.

As part of the Rules and Registration process for this edition, our college will be hosting an Internal Hackathon to select the top 7 teams to be sent for the SIH selection process. You are expected to pick and work towards solving one of the problem statements listed on sih.gov.in
This hackathon is open to all students, irrespective of their branch.

Hackathon Details:

Date and Time: Friday, 10th January 2020 9:00 PM to Saturday, 11th January ‘20 9:00 PM (24 hours)
Venue: ALCs in Admin Block Level #3
Details of Judges and Judgement Criteria for Internal Hackathon will be announced in due course of time.

Deadline (for Internal Hackathon Registration): Wednesday, 8th January 2020, 10:00 PM

Keep in Mind:

  • Your team should have exactly 6 members with at least one female member
  • The problem statement must be one of the 300+ listed here
  • Participation in this Internal Hackaton is must to be considered for the main SIH 2020 hackathon
  • All participants get Participation Certificates

The second edition of SRM-AP University's Annual Tech Fest 2019 is scheduled on Sep 28- Sep 29, 2019.

This student-driven festival has a lineup of workshops, exhibitions, competitions, quizzes and guest lectures.

Women in Machine Learning and Data Science: Amaravati Chapter at SRM AP - Inauguration.

September 29th at Techfest 2019:  Program includes address by VC Jamshed Bharucha.

WIMLDS at SRM AP aims to provide support and promote women, gender minorities practicing, studying or interested in the field of machine learning and data science. The organisation (chapter) intends to create opportunities for members to engage in technical and professional conversations in a positive, supportive environment by hosting talks by women and gender minority individuals working in data science or machine learning. The chapter will also host technical workshops, networking events and hackathons.

Tech Fest / Hackathon

On Feb 28th, 2019 at the 2nd edition of SRM AP Tech Fest  Dr. S. Chandrasekhar,  Director, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology will preside as  the Chief Guest. Dr. Chandrasekhar is also a J C Bose National Fellow.  The inauguration program is from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, followed by interaction sessions with Dr.  Chandrashekhar.

February 28th,  HACKSRM: SRM AP's first student run national Hackathon.  During a 24 hour Hackathon, members from diverse backgrounds come together as a team to tackle a real world problem. This premier event is part of  SRM AP's Tech Fest 2019 and brought to you by an alumni of students with wide experience in Hackathons at MIT, Harvard, UC Berkeley and IIT Roorkee.
