Dr Sushmita Kumari, a beacon of endurance, perseverance, and sportsman spirit, currently holds the position of Assistant Director of Sports at SRM University-AP. With a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Physical Education from Lakshmibai National Institute Of Physical Education, Gwalior, and an MBA from Sikkim Manipal University, Dr Kumari is a seasoned sportsperson and administrator specialising in Sports Management and her core field—volleyball. She was conferred with a PhD from Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad, Haryana, in 2019 and worked in the areas of Health Education, Sports training and Methods of Physical education.
Prior to her current position as Assistant Director-Sports at SRM AP, Dr Kumari held a brief tenure as a PGT Physical Education Teacher at Aster Public School, Greater Noida and Delhi Public School, Bulandshahr, UP. Her last position was as a TGT Physical Education Teacher at Presidium School, Delhi, from 2015 to 2023.
Dr Sushmita Kumari is also an avid researcher and academician, in addition to her key profession as an athlete and sports administrator. She has attended numerous national and international conferences and workshops on Physical Education, Sports Science, etc. She has also presented research papers and articles published in renowned journals.
An adventurer and risk-taker, Dr Kumari has successfully completed the Himalayan Trekking Expedition (Sarkundipass) organised by Y.H.A.I at Kullu-Manali (H.P) during April-May 2009.
In her new position as the visionary leader of the Directorate of Sports at SRM AP, Dr Kumari will lead a generation of young athletes to become champions and envisions a learning journey where physical training and fitness are well-balanced with academics to ensure the holistic growth of students.
