He was awarded his doctorate from Sikkim University, Gangtok. The title of his Ph. D thesis was The Role of Media in the Emergence of Hindu Nationalism in Indian Politics. He was the recipient of The Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority students funded by Ministry of Minority Affairs 2012-17. His research interests include the media representation, media and politics, surveillance system, media and conflict resolutions.
