Amaravati Marathon 2018

Amaravati marathon 2018 hosted by the government of Andhra Pradesh took place at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in the city of Vijayawada, Krishna district. The marathon symbolises might and emergence of people’s capital, ‘Amravati’. Marathon had different sets of track distance namely Half marathon, 10K, 5K and 3K. More than 100 members including students, faculty and management of SRM University-Amravati, AP took part in this marathon. Upon arrival early in the morning everybody did basic warmup exercises and Zumba as per the instructions of the instructor.

Most of the students took part in the 5K Fun run which began apparently at 7 am, with SRM Amaravati flags, determination and a vibrant energy. Every student who took part in the marathon participated with lots of sporting effort and derived some good ounces of fun too. After reaching up to the end point, all the participants were handed over with a medal for successfully completing the marathon and their efforts were acknowledged. Then the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Honourable Nara Chandrababu Naidu arrived at the venue and delivered an overwhelming speech with note of encouragement and complimented the participants. He emphasized about the role of physical exercise in one’s life and how it should be practiced on daily basis in order to be a healthy individual and hence creating a health society. Later, at the end Chief Minister awarded prizes to those who aced the race.
