Workshop on Impact Evaluation of PMKSY on Farmers’ Livelihood
March 11 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm
The Department of Economics organised a comprehensive workshop to discuss the ICSSR-funded project “Impact Evaluation of PMKSY on Farmers’ Livelihood.” This workshop brought together experts, researchers, and stakeholders to delve into the project’s findings, insights, and methodologies. The Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) is a pivotal scheme aimed at enhancing water availability and improving irrigation systems for farmers across India. The Department of Economics undertook an extensive evaluation of this scheme to assess its impact on farmers’ livelihoods, examining various dimensions such as income levels, crop yields, and overall economic well-being.
During the workshop, key project researchers presented their findings, offering a detailed analysis of the data collected and the methodologies employed throughout the project’s duration. Discussions highlighted the scheme’s successes, areas needing improvement, and the overall effectiveness of PMKSY in transforming agricultural practices and enhancing farmers’ quality of life. The workshop also provided a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences, fostering a collaborative environment for future research endeavours. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, exploring the broader implications of the study and identifying potential policy recommendations to further support farmers.
