Tech Seminar on Semiconductor, MEMS and Micro drones
May 26, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
It is imperative for students of engineering and technology to be aware of the new-age tech and its applications that exists in the global platform. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is organising a Department Technical Seminar titled “Semiconductor, MEMS and Micro drones” on May 26, 2023. The online session will be delivered by Prof. Lung-Jieh Yang, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tamkang University, Taiwan.

Abstract of the Talk
Taiwan is famous for its semiconductor industry not only key to the electronics business but also strategically important to international politics. The speaker addresses three important research fields in engineering: The IC industry, MEMS, and MAVs (the micro drones or micro-air-vehicles). Some MEMS products including inkjet printer, pressure sensor, air-bag accelerometer, projector, IR imager and drones will be mentioned. Drones or micro air vehicles (MAVs) can effectively extend human physical presence to a longer distance. The ultra-short-range surveillance and the development of Tamkang’s Golden Snitch will also be described.
About the speaker
Prof. Lung-Jieh Yang received his Ph.D. from Institute of Applied Mechanics, National Taiwan University in 1997 and is currently a professor with Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tamkang University, Taiwan. He has published 80 international journal articles and 5 books in the areas of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and flapping wing micro-air-vehicles (MAVs).
