Dr Khan on Experimental Paradigms in Psycholinguistics

The Department of Literature and Languages is organising a guest lecture on virtual mode. The talk titled “Experimental Paradigms in Psycholinguistics,” will be delivered by Dr Ouraz Khan, Assistant Professor specialising in the Psychology and Behaviour at the School of Liberal Studies and Media at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in Dehradun. Dr Khan’s expertise promises to provide valuable perspectives on the intersection of psychology and language, making this an enriching opportunity for all participants.

About the Speaker:

Dr Ouroz Khan is an Assistant Professor at UPES, Dehradun. She has a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and holds a Master’s degree from the Centre of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences, University of Allahabad.

Her doctoral research lies at the intersection of psychology and behavioral economics, focusing on the psychology of loss aversion, examining how individuals perceive and respond to losses under varying conditions. Beyond her doctoral work, she has worked on diverse projects in cognitive science, including perception of magnitudes in numerical and temporal domains, perceived accuracy of AI algorithms, understanding of exponential growth during COVID-19, and perception of waiting times. She is well-versed in using methodologies such as eye-tracking and fMRI. Her research, in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute, Netherlands, has been published in Cognition and the Journal of Experimental Psychology. Her latest work has been accepted for publication in Decision, an APA journal.
