Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan

Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan has been part of SRM group since inception and has served various academic and administrative roles for the last 30 years. With 21 years of academic contribution and 9 years of Research guidance and Administrative contributions currently holds the position of Pro Vice Chancellor- Engineering & Technology in SRM Institute of Science & Technology (SRMIST). He has obtained his Ph.D. in Anna University, Chennai and his Masters from IIT Chennai. His research alignment is broadly in the areas of Nanoscience and Nano technology. He has guided 7 research scholars in fulfillment of their Ph.D. degree and presently administers 5 full time research scholars. He has over 90 International journal publications and has presented 28 papers in International conferences. Shizuoka University, Japan has recognized him as Honorable Guest Professor from April 2014.

Beyond his scholarly academic works, he has been part of the various professional bodies serving responsible positions.

Muthamizhchelvan is an active member in initiating and executing transformational ideas, policies and strategies within the University. He has driven the initiatives of the management to bring in Semester Abroad Program (SAP) and Faculty Abroad Program (FAP) by driving a team to build strong international relations. Through the corporate connect initiatives, he has added 246 Corporate Advisory Board (CAB) members from Top corporates across the country and abroad. He has led the institution on accreditation process like ABET, and NAAC. He has championed initiatives of e-governance, ICT based learning systems, Appraisal and Faculty Development systems, students participating in reputed international competitions, establishing industry sponsored research labs etc.

Currently, he is progressing towards the Fully Choice based Flexible Credit System (FCBFCS). He also facilitates the departments to offer industry enabled one credit courses to the students. He is exploring the possibilities of setting up a Technology Business Incubator to facilitate student startups. In the administrative process, he is focusing on digitizing and automating works leading to a paperless workflow operations.
