Department of Physics, SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh has invited Dr Bhola Nath Pal, Associate Professor, School of Material Science and Technology, IIT(BHU), to deliver a talk as a Guest Speaker during the webinar to be held on September 14, 2020, at 11.30 a.m. In the webinar coordinated by Dr Goutam Kumar Dalapati (EMAIL: goutam.d@srmap.edu.in), Associate Professor, Department of Physics, SRM AP, Dr Pal will be speaking on “Colloidal quantum dots (QDs): Basic concept, Synthesis, and optoelectronics device application”, highlighting basic concepts of colloidal quantum dot, classification, general synthesis protocol and their optoelectronic applications.

Dr Pal has an array of experience in research from reputed institutes in India and abroad. His remarkable works on contemporary genres such as thin film devices, nanocrystal based electronics, and optoelectronics devices has earned him several accolades. During this webinar, he will also be conversing on his work on colloidal QD-based optoelectronic devices such as photo detectors, light-emitting diodes (LED), and solar cells.

SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh has initiated the Orientation Programme for the Freshmen 2020 with a gracious inauguration ceremony on September 16, 2020. Progressing with the programme, Dr Jaya Prakash Narayan has been requested to share his perspective with the young students of SRM AP.

Dr Jaya Prakash Narayan is a former physician, political reformer, and columnist, celebrated for his role in electoral reforms and the Right to Information (RTI) act. He is the founder and the President of Lok Satta Party, and is a former Member of Legislative Assembly, Andhra Pradesh. He is also the founder and General Secretary of Foundation for Democratic Reforms (NGO), an independent public-policy think-tank and research-resource centre.

In the next chapter of the Orientation Programme for the Freshmen-2020, Dr Raghunath Anant Mashelkar will be joining us today, September 17, 2020, at 4 pm to meet and greet the new students.

Dr Mashelkar is a multifaceted scientist and chemical engineer of our country. He is the former Director-General of CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research). He was the President of Indian National Science Academy (INSA), President of Institution of Chemical Engineers (ICE) and also served as President of Global Research Alliance. He is a director on board of India’s several leading companies, from Tata to Reliance.

He is the Fellow of Royal Society (FRS), the highest honour reserved for world’s pathbreaking scientists. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), Foreign Associate of US National Academy of Engineering and the US National Academy of Sciences.

The President of India has honoured him with Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award of India. Dr Mashelkar has also received the Star of Asia Award (2005) of Business Week (USA) at the hands of George Bush (Sr), Former President of USA. Apart from this, he has been bestowed with numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions in the arena of science and research.

Dr Varaprasad Reddy is a versatile personality who has excelled in various domains of science and technology, entrepreneurship, and industrial development. Dr Das is a coveted Management Consultant who also owns a certificate in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt in addition to certificates in Counselling, Communication Media, Transactional Analysis, Radio & Journalism, and Effective Classroom Communication. He is a Visiting Professor at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Krishna University, K L University. and Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence along with being a Professor Emeritus and Dean of Management Studies at SRK Engineering College.

Dr Das is a Management Consultant at Ramesh Hospitals, and trains personnel engaged with Police, Revenue, Transport, APSRTC, APGENCO, Banks, College and School, and other Public and Private Sector Organizations. He is also an active member of many literary and cultural organizations in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He is a member of the Forum for Child Rights, negotiator of the Anti-hijacking Committee of Vijayawada Airport, and is committed to the service of rehabilitating street children.

Ms Saritha obtained an MSc. in Psychology and LL.M degrees with outstanding records as a student. She was the Best Outgoing Student during her Intermediate. She further received four gold medals in LL.B along with securing the first position in Osmania University.
