In the next chapter of the Orientation Programme for the Freshmen-2020, Dr Raghunath Anant Mashelkar will be joining us today, September 17, 2020, at 4 pm to meet and greet the new students.
Dr Mashelkar is a multifaceted scientist and chemical engineer of our country. He is the former Director-General of CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research). He was the President of Indian National Science Academy (INSA), President of Institution of Chemical Engineers (ICE) and also served as President of Global Research Alliance. He is a director on board of India’s several leading companies, from Tata to Reliance.
He is the Fellow of Royal Society (FRS), the highest honour reserved for world’s pathbreaking scientists. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), Foreign Associate of US National Academy of Engineering and the US National Academy of Sciences.
The President of India has honoured him with Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award of India. Dr Mashelkar has also received the Star of Asia Award (2005) of Business Week (USA) at the hands of George Bush (Sr), Former President of USA. Apart from this, he has been bestowed with numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions in the arena of science and research.
