Welcome to the information blog on B.Sc. Integrative Biology course offered by the Department of Biological Sciences, SRM University AP. The structure of our course curriculum is aimed at catering the knowledge ranging from fundamental principles to cutting-edge research in biology and we make sure it is thought provoking. By the end of this course the students will be ready to take up real-world problems and contribute towards the betterment of the society. To this end SRM University AP is fully committed to nurturing students and supporting them become entrepreneurs, bringing their novel intellectual thoughts and ideas to practicality by providing them expert advice, and our entrepreneurship team also makes sure that their inventions are potentially marketed, assisting them financially leading to their own start-up companies. The world is moving at a faster pace and the demands put forward by the real world could only be met if our academic curriculum can accommodate what is needed. Our expert panel of advisors and faculty, design the courses in such a way that we not only introduce the fundamentals but also provide the cutting-edge topics and bring them to the forefront in the scientific domain. We pay utmost attention in designing our courses to bridge the gap between academics and real life demands so our students stay relevant and pragmatic in the real world.
We achieve this by training the students aptly in different stages of the course. In their first semester we teach and train them in basic sciences of Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer sciences. After the first semester, students will have the freedom to choose the science domain of their interest, and this allows matching the motivated students to the science stream that they really enjoy learning and training themselves in and set their career in. Our internationally trained faculty will always motivate those who are not motivated and guide them to find their interests. The students who choose to pursue biological sciences, will begin their journey as undergraduates of biological sciences from semester two. We offer B.Sc. in two modes: B.Sc. (three years) and B.Sc. Honors (four years). B.Sc. Honors is a research-intensive course and allows the students eligible for some international Academic or Industrial opportunities which may require a four-year undergraduate course. Students have a provision to decide during their fifth semester and can choose the option that best suits their research interests.
To this end, we offer different major and minor courses in theory, and we revise them as needed to incorporate the latest research topics as seem fit.
Our curriculum is designed to expose students to perform research, entrepreneurship opportunities, and innovation in frontier areas of biology and interdisciplinary sciences.
Curriculum and syllabus are designed for qualifying highly competitive national and international level examinations and to prepare the students for both industrial and academic careers.
Extensive laboratory training and project opportunities to work on cutting edge areas including Genomics and Proteomics, Genetic Engineering, Neuroscience, Nanotechnology, RNA Biology, CRISPR technology, Plant biotechnology, Sustainability, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, etc.,
All the faculty members are trained from premier institutes of National and International level. The current faculty are from the following institutions: Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB), CSIR- National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), University of Leipzig (Germany), Freie Universitaet – Berlin (Germany), Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel), International Max Planck Research School for Neurosciences (Germany), University of California San Francisco (USA) etc.
Faculty members with research publications from the topmost journals including Nature, Science, PNAS, Green Chemistry, Applied Materials and Interface etc.
SRM University AP is a private University, approved and sanctioned by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and is established in the year 2017.
Fully air conditioned classrooms and laboratories with world class research and teaching facilities. All our classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art multimedia devices to incorporate the advanced teaching techniques including the option to enable hybrid mode of teaching, which helped us continue teaching during the COVID-pandemic. Our fully equipped classroom helped us continue our academics with minimal distress even during the unforeseen circumstances created by covid-19. Students have access to the departmental central and faculties research laboratories all the time. Access to fully equipped and well-resourced libraries and computer laboratories.
We are located between Kuragallu and Neerukonda near Mangalagiri and this is a quiet neighbourhood and most likely the least polluted area with access to clean air, yet, giving access to Gannavaram international airport (45 Kms or 1 hour), Vijayawada railway station (20 Kms or 30 mins) and roadways (PNBS Vijayawada) (20 Kms or 30 mins) as we are located near well-established cities of Andhra Pradesh. These connection hubs give direct access to PAN-India and makes SRM University AP reachable from any part of the world with ease.
We exclusively offer merit-based admissions and we are a non-profit organization. Hence, our fees are tailored to give maximum financial relief to the most meritorious students. On a first come first serve basis we offer complete fee waiver or discount fees in multiple merit-based slots with a maximum fee of 1.6 Lakhs INR.

Most of our students opted to go for higher education and few opted to be entrepreneurs and we support them in all possible aspects to achieve their goals.
Our classrooms are fully equipped to deliver the lectures both in online and offline modes. We do not offer part-time degrees or evening classes. We do encourage students from our University as well as those from other Universities to get hands-on experience through novel research. We offer internships to students from other universities and encourage our students to seek internship opportunities from other reputed national and international universities and Industries. In fact some of our faculties are registered mentors for programs like summer intern fellowship programs offered by NASI and INSA, through which students from various regions pursue their three-six months internships here at SRM-AP.

The department has seven ongoing projects from government of India funding agencies - DBT, DST-SERB, and DBT-Wellcome Trust with a total outlay of 5 crores.
