Advanced Control Systems

Speaker: Professor Antoine Chaillet

Biography: Antoine Chaillet was born in Douai, France, in 1979. In 2002, he received his B.Sc. degree from ESIEE Amiens, France, and his M.Sc. degree in Control Engineering from Univ. Paris Sud 11 in 2003. He was an undergraduate scholar visitor to the University of Twente, The Netherlands, and a graduate scholar visitor to the INRIA Sophia Antipolis, France. In July 2006, he received his Ph.D. degree cum laude in Control Theory from Univ. Paris Sud 11-L2S. In 2004, A. Chaillet was recipient of a Marie-Curie Scholarship to visit Università degli Studi di Firenze, Italy. In 2006–2007, he served as a post-doc fellow at Centro di Ricerca Piaggio, Pisa, Italy. From 2007 to 2016, he served as an Associate Professor at L2S-Univ. Paris Sud 11-Supélec-EECI. He is now Full professor at CentraleSupélec and junior member of Institut Universitaire de France. His research interests include synchronization analysis for neuroscience applications, stability analysis and stabilization of nonlinear systems, control of mechanical systems, and network controlled systems. He is the author of more than 120 peer-reviewed publications on these topics.

Principles of Signal Processing

Speaker: Dr Zoleikha A. Biron

Biography: Prof  Zoleikha Biron is currently an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the University of Florida. Her research focuses on cyber physical systems with applications in intelligent transportation systems, smart power systems and integration of renewable energy sources with smart power systems. She is interested in utilizing control theory, estimation and fault diagnostics techniques to enhance the security and efficiency of cyber physical systems.

She received her Ph.D. from Clemson University in 2017, her MS and BS degree in Electrical Engineering from K.N. Toosi University of Technology and University of Tehran, respectively. Prior joining University of Florida in Jan 2019, she was at the Clemson University International Center of Automotive research (CU_ICAR) as a post doc.

Switch Mode Power Converters

Speaker: Dr Priyank Shah

Biography: Priyank Shah (Member, IEEE) received his B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya (BVM), Gujarat, India, in 2013. He obtained his M. Tech. degree in power systems at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2015. Thereafter, he received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, India, in 2020. Following his PhD, he joined as research fellow at the University of Warwick from Jan 2020 to August 2022. He is a recipient of convocation award entitled Amit Garg Memorial Research Award from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Best Innovative Project Award from Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), in November 2020 and December 2020, respectively. He is a recipient of the prestigious POSOCO Power System Award (PPSA) in Doctoral category from Power System Corporation (POSOCO), Gov. of India Enterprise and Foundation for Innovation & Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi in March 2021. He also secured nomination in Top-10 position in ‘Energy Solution’ category for BRICS Young Scient Award in September 2021. He is currently working as a Lead Engineer at General Electric Digital, Edinburgh, United Kingdom. His areas of interest includes synchronization, grid-connected power electronics converter, virtual synchronous generator (VSG), fault ride through operation, leakage current and power quality improvement of the distributed grid.

Speaker: Dr Dogga Raveendhra

Biography: Dr Dogga Raveendhra is a senior consultant in the power electronics division in ALTEN Gmbh, Germany. He has completed his Post-Doctoral Fellowship Programme at Renewable Energy Research Centre, American University of Sharjah, UAE along with the affiliation of Senior Research Engineer at Zunik Energies Pvt. Ltd. He was conferred with a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee with Excellence in Doctoral Research Award. Dr Raveendhra is also the founder of Zunik Energies Pvt. Ltd., an incubated Start-up of IIT Roorkee, funded by TIDES Business Incubator, IIT Roorkee, accelerated and supported by AP Innovation Society. He has published two patent disclosures at NS State University, USA and two Indian patents, 12 highly reputed Journal publications in IEEE, Elsevier, IET and Energies, etc., including 5Book chapters & 30+ IEEE International Conference Papers. Dr Raveendhra is also credited with numerous awards for his research, including the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement in 2017. IIT Roorkee had nominated him for the Festival of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (FINE-2018) and invited him as a delegate for the CII DST India-Italysummit and FINTECH 2018.
