Welcome to Department of Mathematics. It is noted in the Vedanga Jyotisha (c. 500 BC) that

यथा शिखा मयूराणां नागानां मणयो यथा ।
तद्वत् वेदाङ्गशास्त्राणां गणितं मूर्धनि स्थितम् ॥

Like the crest of the peacock, like the gem on the head of a snake, so is mathematics at the head of all knowledge. It is no wonder that there exists no branch of science devoid of Mathematics. That is why Carl Friedrich Gauss rightly said, “Mathematics is the queen of all sciences.

Department of Mathematics of SRM University-AP, Amaravati has started functioning from the July, 2017. We have distinguished faculty members from India and abroad with great research experience and international exposure from elite institutions across the globe. Our fraternity are actively engaged in diverse fields of mathematical research in pure and applied, viz. Numerical solutions of Partial Differential Equations (PDE) and Integral equations, Stability and Optimal control theory, Hydrodynamic instabilities, Spectral graph theory, Harmonic analysis, Topology, Operator theory, Fuzzy set theory and inference mechanism, Diffusion MRI processing, Sampling theory, Variational calculus and it’s applications, Geometry of numbers and Algebraic number fields (computational), Discrete dynamical systems, Univalent function theory, C*-Tensor categories, and Mathematical modelling.

The Department of Mathematics and SRM University-AP, Amaravati is committed to providing state-of-the-art technical education in a variety of fields and also for facilitating transmission of knowledge in keeping with latest developments in pedagogy. The key features of the Department of Mathematics are

  • The strong interdisciplinary streak in the department. Many faculties have collaboration with other institute faculties or other department faculties at SRM University. This is both wonderfully stimulating and very important. Mathematics is a deeply interconnected subject, and the strongest mathematicians leverage these connections.
  • Weekly mathematics seminar. The programme equips students with a range of mathematical skills in problem-solving, project work and presentation, preparing them to take on roles in a variety of situations in employment and research.
