Our curriculum imparts technical know-how to students where the subjects are co-taught by industry experts to develop skills that are essential for the job market. Our department provides students a solid foundation in core as well as emerging areas of mechanical engineering by inspiring critical thinking and nurturing problem-solving skills.

The Department has high-profile faculty members with excellent academic and research credentials and are globally renowned. Our faculty members are actively engaged in carrying out collaborative and interdisciplinary research. The department was provided with state of the art research facilities to support our academic programs and research. Our faculty members are involved in a wide range of projects in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics, Heat transfer and Fluid Mechanics, Electronics Cooling, Robotics, Additive Manufacturing and Advanced Materials etc. to name a few. Efforts are being made to introduce advanced concept like Metal Additive Manufacturing, Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, High performance computing, Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning Algorithms, Sensors and IoT as a part of solving Mechanical Engineering problems.

The faculty members of the department have secured research grants from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) with a total budget of 1.86 Crores. In addition, we have also received funding for Industries R&D and Consultancy projects with a total budget of 1.12 Crores. The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has awarded us FIST level B, with a total budget of 1.40 Crores. This grant will be used to create a state-of-the-art facility for Non-Destructive Testing and Analysis.
