Cylindrical test specimens are subjected to direct shear loading at 20oC with constant shear rate. The development of shear deformation and force is recorded, and the maximum recorded shear stress is determined as shear strength (in MPa) at the interface between layers.
The test is performed as per ASTM D8044 – 16. Suitable to determine the asphalt mixture cracking resistance. The test is used to calculate the fracture energy of asphalt mixtures. A 150mm dia samples with simple half-disk with a notch cut parallel to the loading are used. A constant rate of deformation in a three-point bending load configuration is applied. The load and deformation are continuously recorded and are used to compute the strain energy for a given notch depth.

A cylindrical specimen of 150mm dia is cantered in the fixture and load is applied at a constant load-line displacement (LLD) rate of 50.0±2.0 mm/min using ITS loading frame. Both the load and LLD are measured during the entire duration of the test. The CTIndex of asphalt mixture is calculated based on the test results.
The test is performed as per AASHTO T-283. Suitable to determine sensitivity of bituminous mix samples in the presence of water by determining tensile strength ratio (TST). TSR is a measure to find the sensitivity of the specimens before and after conditioning the sample at temperature of 60 °C for 24 hours. More severe conditioning such a freeze-thaw cycles (-18oC to +60oC) can be simulated with the available freezer and water bath.
