About
The response of disordered systems, starting from heterogeneous materials subjected to external loading, fluids in porous media, magnetic spins, network of coupled oscillators to tectonic plates, are governed by emergent collective responses of the individual elements. As a multidisciplinary application of Statistical Physics, this area of research links to crucial practical issues involving predictions of system spanning avalanches as well as relates to fascinating insights obtained through analytical, numerical, machine learning and experimental approaches towards such non-equilibrium critical phenomena.
This symposium aims at addressing current advances in characterization and predictions of emergent collective properties in disordered systems using Statistical Physics techniques.
