The world today needs sharp minds, critical thinkers, and leaders who can leverage new opportunities and inspire positive social change. Our Bachelor in Arts (BA) programme will help students interpret and experience the world around them. Invaluable skills like communication, critical thinking and problem solving are the core of this programme. Our undergraduate programme aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and intellectual foundation - across humanities and social sciences - for a competitive advantage and enduring career success. In the first year of the BA programme, students are introduced to carefully crafted interdisciplinary courses on the liberal arts and social sciences. Students can choose their areas of specialisation in the following year.

SLASS students also have access to robust supports including Workshops, Seminars and learning centres for assistance with language and skill and competency development. Our faculty mentors offer full-time support to each student throughout his or her academic journey at SRMAP.

BA

Students are exposed to diverse areas of psychology, with the courses falling under the five broad categories:

In addition to majoring in psychology, students have an option to take additional courses, as well as a minor, within the liberal arts domain, in disciplines such as Economics, History, English or Mathematics

The three-year Bachelor programme is extendable to an optional fourth year specially curated to make the students aware of the cutting edge research being done in the discipline of commerce worldwide. Special coaching will also be provided to the students willing to pursue higher education in world-class universities including the Ivy League institutions. The 4th year also gives students a provision to submit a research thesis, a prerequisite for admission applications to premier universities in the USA and Europe. The 4th year facilitates a smooth transition to higher studies without losing an additional year.

The curriculum is designed to make students confident of appearing for national and international level competitive exams (e.g., GRE, UPSC, UGC-NET) and securing admissions in reputed universities in India and abroad.

SRM University-AP has an unmatched record in UG Placements. An extensive series of industry and research specific seminars, workshops are being organised along with outstanding training programmes designed to professionalise students in their fields. The university also trains students who want to pursue higher studies abroad,
irrespective of their specialisations.

SRM University-AP has collaborations with many eminent institutions including University of Wisconsin, Madison, Illinois Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, Flinders University, Australia etc. Our students gain global exposure through the unique opportunity of spending a semester (or an academic visit) abroad, based on merit. The collaborations foster knowledge creation, skill enhancement, and advancement towards industry associations.

SRM University-AP has the best undergraduate psychology laboratories with psychometric assessments, experimental apparatuses, and latest biofeedback equipment.Students also have access to a good library with onine and online resources, dining area, hostels, grocery store, Health Centre & Pharmacy, Bank with ATM, Post Office and other amenities. The University has a world-class campus designed by Perkins-Will, the American architecture firm that specialises in educational institutions.

Most faculty members are doctorates from leading universities and institutes of national importance in India. In addition, faculty members have international experience in research, training from the nest institutes of the country and expertise covering all trending subelds in psychology.

Ms Ayesha Parveen Haroon: has submitted her doctoral thesis at the University of Madras and has vast teaching experience. She works in the interdisciplinary area of linguistics, communication apprehension identifying psychological interventions to alleviate socially relevant issues. Visiting Faculty and Guest Faculty are invited to handle courses based on their expertise, clinical practice and experience

The curriculum is designed within a liberal arts framework and follows the Choice Based Credit System recommended by the UGC (University Grants Commission). The uniqueness of the department lies in its potential to equip students to deal with real world problems, by giving students an in-depth understanding of psychology
subjects as well as breadth of exposure in a number of related subjects, at the undergraduate level
