Our undergraduate programme aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and intellectual foundation - across humanities and social sciences - for a competitive advantage and enduring career success. In the first year of the BA/BSc programme, students are introduced to carefully crafted interdisciplinary courses in the liberal arts and social sciences. Students can choose their areas of specialisation in the following year.

SLASS students also have access to robust support including Workshops, Seminars and learning centres for assistance with language and skill and competency development. Our faculty mentors offer full-time support to each student throughout his or her academic journey at SRM AP.

MINOR AND ADDITIONAL COURSES

In addition to majoring in English, there is an option to take additional courses, in disciplines such as Economics, History, Journalism, Computer Science, or Mathematics

OPTIONAL 4TH YEAR AND TRAINING FOR HIGHER EDUCATION

The three-year Bachelor programme is extendable to an optional fourth year specially curated to make the students aware of the cutting edge research being done in Literary Studies worldwide. Special coaching will also be provided to the students willing to pursue higher education in world-class universities including the Ivy League institutions. The 4th year also gives students a provision to submit a research thesis, a prerequisite for admission applications to premier universities in the USA and Europe. The 4th year facilitates a smooth transition to higher studies without losing an additional year

FOUNDATION FOR COMPETITIVE EXAMS

The curriculum is designed to enhance confidence to appear for national and international level competitive exams (e.g., GRE, UPSC, UGC-NET) and secure admissions in reputed universities in India and abroad

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS

SRM University-AP has collaborations with many eminent institutions including University of Wisconsin, Madison, Illinois Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, Flinders University, Australia etc. SRM- AP students gain global exposure through the unique opportunity of spending a semester (or an academic visit) abroad, based on merit. SRM University-AP has the best undergraduate Language laboratories equipped to train language skills using Oréll Talk Corporate software. Qualified lab assistants will add more to learning experiences using this software in Active Learning Classrooms. FACULTY & AREAS OF INTERESTS

Dr Priyank Varma G is a PhD from The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. His area of expertise is English Language Teaching (ELT) with a specialisation in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). His research interests are Designing Teaching Materials, Learning Styles etc.

Dr Srabani Basu is a PhD from Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya (Chhattisgarh). Her career spans over a period of 28 years in institutional and corporate training, and lectureship. Besides her academic background, she is also a certified NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) practitioner and coach. Interdisciplinary research, archetypal psychology, music, creative writing, water memory, are some of her areas of interest.

Dr Rajni Mujral is a PhD from The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. Her area of expertise is Indian writing in English. Her research interests are include disability studies and language teaching, migration literature, literature in other vernaculars.

Dr Ram Kulesh Thakur is a PhD in English from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, His research areas are Language Structure and Operation in Poetry, English Language Teaching, Language Assessment Techniques, and Indian Writing in English.

Dr Soni Wadhwa is a Ph.D from The University of Mumbai. Her area of expertise is in philosophy of language. Other research interests are city writing, south Asian studies, media studies, popular culture and translation.

Dr Anu Kuriakose is a PhD from The University of Space Science & Technology, (IIST), Thiruvanantapuram. Her research interests are Gender/LGBTIQA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Queer, Asexual) in language, literature, film, and cultures.

 

UNIQUE CURRICULUM

INFRASTRUCTURE

SRM University-AP offers a wide range of facilities and resources to support students. The library on the campus provides an extensive collection of books and journals on History. The students have 24x7 access to online journals and other valuable online resources required to hone their writing and research skills.

FACULTY & AREAS OF INTERESTS

All faculty members at the History department are highly qualified historians who have obtained doctorate degrees from reputed Universities and Institutes of National importance in India.

Dr Malavika Binny- PhD in History, JNU. Her areas of research interest are Intersections of Science and Gender in Ayurveda and native healing methods.

Dr Maanvender Singh- PhD in History, Central University of Sikkim.His areas of research interest are Constitutional and Judicial Epistemology of Caste, State and Politics in the Postcolonial India.

Dr Megha Yadav- PhD in History, JNU. Her areas of research interest are analysis of gender relations and performance within the Tantric Buddhist practices in Early Medieval Eastern India, Nepal and Tibet.

Dr Aqsa Agha- PhD in History, JNU. Her areas of research interest are Gender, State and Politics in Medieval India

CURRICULUM

The curriculum of the B A degree programme is designed as per the UGC guidelines. The department focuses on interactive learning through critical thinking as against rote learning and performance in examinations. The course contents prepare the students for pursuing a higher degree in social sciences

Ms Ayesha Parveen Haroon: has submitted her doctoral thesis at the University of Madras and has vast teaching experience. She works in the interdisciplinary area of linguistics, communication apprehension identifying psychological interventions to alleviate socially relevant issues. Visiting Faculty
and Guest Faculty are invited to handle courses based on their expertise, clinical practice and experience

The BSc Programme in Economics at SRM University-AP has several unique features. The Programme is exible and designed to expose the students to fundamental economic theories as well as quantitative methods. The
Programme makes the student both conceptually and analytically strong in Economics. The programme includes fundamental theories in Microeconomics & Macroeconomics, International Trade & Finance and Public Economics. In addition to mathematical methods, statistical methods and econometrics, R-studio & Python programming. The
students will also become familiar with Indian Economic Problems, Databases and Policy Aspects. An additional merit of this programme is that it exposes the students to emerging areas in economics such as Financial Economics, Agricultural Economics, and Environmental Economics. The programme culminates with a research-based dissertation on a topic of relevance chosen by the student
