International Internship is an integral part of the academic curricula. SRM AP International Internship Program offers students the opportunity to fulfill academic and personal goals while researching and working abroad.

The general structure of the internship requires the students to undertake an immersive assignment within the assigned organizations for a limited period.

International Internships are educational and career development opportunities, providing practical experience in a student’s area of field or discipline. They are structured, short-term, supervised placements often focused on particular tasks or projects with defined timescales. An internship may be compensated, non-compensated or some time may be paid.

The general procedure for arranging internship is given below:

  • Request Letter/ Email from the office of International Relations & Higher Studies should go to industry/organization to allot various slots of 4-6 weeks during summer vacation as internship periods for the students. Students request letter/profile/ interest areas may be submitted to industries/organization for their willingness for providing the internship.
  • Industry/organization will confirm the training slots and the number of seats allocated for internships via Confirmation Letter/ Email. In case the students arrange the training themselves the confirmation letter will be submitted by the students in the office of International Relations & Higher Studies through concerned department. Based on the number of slots agreed to by the industry/organization, IRHS will allocate the students to the industry/organization.
  • Students on joining internship/training at the concerned Industry / Organization, submit the Joining Report/ Letters / acceptance email.
  • Students undergo research internship/industrial training at the concerned Industry / Organization. In-between Faculty Member(s) evaluate(s) the performance of students once/twice by taking presentation, visiting the Industry/Organization, and Evaluation Report of the students is submitted in department office/IRHS with the consent of Industry persons/ Trainers.
  • Students must submit training report & certificate after completion of internship.
  • Training Certificate to be obtained from industry/organization.

Internship may be done through following verticals through offline /online mode.

  • Full time Industry Internship cum project.
  • Full time research internship at research organization/Center of Excellence (CoE)/under professors/Laboratory.
  • Internship accounted through incubation center (Project Prototype through entrepreneur development and start-up)
  • Students with no backlogs.
  • UG students from 2nd year onwards & PG students from 1st year onwards are eligible to apply for an internship.
  • Should have a CGPA>7.
  • Duration of Internship: 1-6 Months

Frequesntly Asked Questions

UG students from 2nd year onwards & PG/PhD students from 1st year onwards are eligible to apply for an internship.

he duration is usually between 4 to 26 weeks.

Students should have to apply through Intranet portal only. The link is available in “How to apply” tab.

Students need to upload Curriculum Vitae (CV), Statement of purpose (SoP), Valid Passport and transcript (if required) on Intranet portal.

Students must complete and submit a monthly progress report, final report & Internship completion certificate with the appropriate faculty approval and signatures, on or before the deadlines provided by the department.

A full-time intern is expected to spend 35 - 40 hours per week on Internship, Training, Project work, Seminar activities, etc.

For Online Internship, interns are expected to spend 15 – 20 hours per week on Internship Training, Project work, Seminar activities, etc.

No, Students may only do one internship at a time.

You should clearly lay out your academic background and any work experience. We recommend you link this to specific Internship Program areas or projects in which you are interested and also tell how you would benefit from interning with particular internship program and what’s your contribution would be. Additionally, you should explain how you have demonstrated the skills and behaviors you consider important for successful team working a multicultural and international context.

Deadlines are flexible and variable, depending on the needs of the divisions, its mentioned against each opportunity available on Intranet portal.

While most of our internships are full-time, some are not. How long and how often you work in the office depends on the agreement you make with your supervisor and the project and office you are assigned to. Some internships can be carried out on a part-time basis, or even remotely.

Internships may or may not be paid, depending on the major and the industry. Many are not, but some are. You will want to find this out before you accept an internship. Remember, internships are incredibly valuable in that you are gaining experience relevant to your major or minor while helping confirm you are heading in the right career direction (or not).

Partially funded/paid internships are when students are paid in the form of a stipend. Stipends are typically a fixed amount of money that is paid out on a regular basis. Usually, interns that are paid with stipends are paid on a set schedule associated with the organization.

Fully funded/paid internships are when students are paid in the form of a stipend, Accommodation, Food, Airfare & VISA.
