March 8th is International Women’s Day—an event that is celebrated worldwide to recognize the strides women have made toward gender parity in the workplace and the world.
SRM-AP will join our global partners in paying respects to women who have paved the way for equal rights in the past and the women and men who continue to contribute to the dialogue around advancing women’s rights.
The history of this important day goes back over a full century and the United Nations comes up with a new theme each year. This year, the U.N. urges us to “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change.”
The theme of IWD 2019 is #Balanceforbetter, which speaks to desire for a gender-balanced world. Events at SRM AP-Andhra Pradesh will be in accord with this theme and we will explore the subject of achieving balance, both in the individual lives of women and in the spirit of gender-equity on campus.
The university will announce a schedule of activities to take place during the week of March 3rd, leading up to a full roster of events on March 8th. Please stay tuned for ways in which you can be involved in achieving #Balanceforbetter.
