Republic Day celebrations at SRM Amaravati

Marching contingents were on display as SRM AP celebrated the 69th Republic Day with grand vibrancy and spirit in the commemoration of constitution of India’s inception. IPS officer Ms. R. Jayalakshmi (SP, Intelligence) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Registrar Dr Gunasekaran welcomed Ms Jayalakshmi after she unfurled the tricolour to the gun-salute. Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor D Narayana Rao graced the event with his presence.

Students and faculty witnessed a one hour celebration during the first ever Republic Day at the Amaravati campus. The Chief Guest gave a speech to students focussing on the role of students to give a kick start to development of the newly formed capital, Amaravati. “Students are the future of economy and backbone to nourish the developing stage of the state”, she said.

Later, IPS Jayalakshmi interacted with the students. “Spread the light of education, dispel the darkness of ignorance. Plant trees around and support others for any good cause“ – her message to students. The event was followed by a live telecast of celebrations at New Delhi.
