About the symposium

The Department of Biological Sciences is organising a two-day Symposium on Cell and Molecular biology (SCMB-2023) from February 16th to 17th, 2023, at SRM University-AP, in a hybrid format. The symposium will focus on the latest findings, ideas, and techniques in the arena of Cell and Molecular Biology. It brings together eminent speakers from different parts of India and abroad, including the Hebrew University (Israel), Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (Israel), Biological Research Centre (Hungary), Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel), The AMR Insights (The Netherlands), Indian Institute of Science, IIT-Jodhpur, CSIR- Institute for Microbial Technology, IIIT-Delhi and more.

This symposium is going to be a place to learn the recent R & D developments from eminent speakers, gain insights into new technologies, establish collaborations, networking, sharing data and ideas. We invite UG & PG students, research scholars and faculty members interested in the broad area of cell and molecular biology, computational biology, and biotechnology to participate and benefit from this symposium and workshop.

The goals of SCMB-2023 are two-fold:

  • To build awareness of the ongoing research activities in the field of cell and molecular biology.
  • To create a platform for students and researchers to discuss their work, exchange ideas, and network.

Workshop on Biological Data Analytics

The hands-on workshop on Biological Data Analytics is being organized for the benefit of students, faculty members and industrial participants. The workshop focuses on the use of computational analysis and analysis of high-throughput experiments, such as genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.

The workshop involves presentations from experts and hands-on sessions, where attendees will learn the latest tools, techniques and best practices for analysing and interpreting biological data using AI, ML and other methods.

The Hands-on Workshop Will Focus On
  • Building Machine Learning models leveraging biological datasets in R-programming
  • Using AutoML techniques for building classification and regression models (Biological datasets)
  • Case study with Metabokiller Python Package (Mittal et al. 2022, Nature Chemical Biology).
