Find your place behind the screen

No form of art goes beyond ordinary consciousness as film does, straight to our emotions, deep into the twilight room of the soul

– Ingmar Bergman

Film-making-workshop-movie-club-srmapInside the dark space of a movie theatre, it’s just us, the screen, and the projecting light against the world. We join the revolt of the artist against the real. The very idea of perceiving the comfort and discomfort of a cinema while sitting with a bunch of unfamiliar faces is enough to make you fall into the rabbit hole of filmmaking.

Ever wondered how people connect with people through mere moving images? Ever think of the stories you want to tell but cannot fix frames and pour life into them? It is the filmmaking enthusiast in you who makes you think of what is in a frame and what is out.

The fascinating thing about cinema is that it is an endless tool made up of pretty much the same elements. Cinema uses the language of dreams and each of them is entirely different from the other. The Movie Club is ready with a filmmaking workshop to awaken the storyteller in you. The workshop offers an intensive and instructional five-day programme focusing on the five main agents of cinema, including Scriptwriting, Direction, Photography, Editing, and Acting.

Time to kick the stress outStress is an inescapable element of the modern age. At its core, stress is a response method of the body to the unpredictability of everyday life. People try their best to cope with the challenging changes in day-to-day life. When you let all those entangled thoughts and feelings percolate instead of finding the source of the things that stress you out, it starts to take a toll on your emotional and physical health. That’s why it’s important to find ways to mitigate your body and mind’s stress responses.

The Department of Student Affairs is conducting a session on Time to kick the stress out to convey the importance of identifying harmful stress and managing it in the best way possible. Community training on Hands-Only CPR

Community training on Hands-Only CPR

SRM University-AP, in collaboration with AIIMS Mangalagiri and the American Heart Association, is organising a Community Training on Hands-Only CPR on September 29, 2022, World Heart Day. Heart health is a fundamental human right and an essential component of global health justice.

World Heart Day was established by the World Heart Federation to educate people around the world that cardiovascular disease (CVD), including heart disease and stroke, is the leading cause of death in the world. The campaign highlights the actions that individuals can take to prevent and control CVD. It tries to motivate individuals to take action by educating them about how risk factors such as cigarette use, poor diet, and physical inactivity can prevent at least 80% of premature deaths from heart disease and stroke.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency lifesaving technique to be performed during instances of cardiac arrest or heart attack, or situations where someone’s heartbeat has stopped. CPR can double or triple the chances of survival after cardiac arrest. The American Heart Association is the leader in resuscitation science, education, and training and the publisher of the official Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

Learning Hands-Only CPR is learning an essential skill that would enable you to save a life!
