Praveen Kopalle

Professor Praveen Kopalle is the Signal Companies’ Professor of Management, and Professor of Marketingat the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, Dartmouth College. Praveen was the Associate Dean for the MBA Program during 2015-2018 and was the Area Chair for Marketing during 2013-2015, both at Tuck. Praveen is the recipient of 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award in Retailing, awarded by the American Marketing Association’s Retailing and Pricing SIG (Special Interest Group).Praveen won the 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award, given by the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India.  Praveen won the best teaching award, the 2015 Core Teaching Excellence Award at the Tuck School.

Praveen received his Ph.D. from Columbia University, New York, PGDM (equivalent to MBA) from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and B.E. from Osmania University, Hyderabad. Praveen’s teaching interests are Marketing Management, Data Analytics, Pricing Strategies, Marketing New Products, and Integrated Experiential Learning. Praveen’s research interests include new products, innovation, pricing and promotions, customer expectations, and e-commerce. Professor Kopalle serves as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Marketing, was the Associate Editor at the Journal of Consumer Research (2014-2018) and Associate Editor at the Journal of Retailing. In addition, he is on the Editorial Boards of Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Marketing Letters, Journal of Interactive Marketing, and International Journal of Electronic Commerce.Professor Kopalle has won many research awards including: Winner, 2005 John D. C. Little Best Paper Award in Marketing Science;Finalist, 2015 INFORMS Society on Marketing Long Term Impact Award;Best Paper Award of the special issue on Marketing and Innovation (2015), International Journal of Research in Marketing;Finalist, 2006 John D. C. Little Best Paper Award in Marketing Science;Finalist, 2011 Marketing Science Institute’s Robert Buzzell award;Winner, 2014 William R. Praveen’s research has been published in many top-tier journals including Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, Management Science, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Strategic Management Journal, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Retailing, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Managerial and Decision Economics, Marketing Letters, Applied Economics, and International Journal of Electronic Commerce.  He has also been invited to speak at over fifty universities and institutes worldwide. Praveen Kopalle is a faculty fellow (Internet marketing and pricing) of the Glassmeyer/ McNamee Center for Digital Strategies and a faculty associate of the William F. Achtmeyer Center for Global Leadership, both at the Tuck School. Praveen is TEDxDartmouth Speaker on “Data Analytics and Predictive Modeling. ”Praveen is also on the advisory boards of AtenWorks Inc., Hyderabad, India, Camelia Clothing Ltd, Bangalore, India, and BeVocal, Inc., Santa Clara, CA, 1999-2007.
