Selection Process

Eligibility criteria for students to apply to B.Tech Program

Qualifying in any one of the following criteria

  • A rank within 1,25,000 in JEE (mains) and above 60% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry individually in 12th standard CBSE / state board exam or equivalent
  • A rank within 35,000 in SRM-JEEE and above 60% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry individually in 12th standard CBSE / state board exam or equivalent
  • A test score of minimum 1200 in SAT subject tests and above 60% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry individually in 12th standard CBSE / state board exam or equivalent
  • If a student is not eligible under the above criteria, they can still apply if they score above 90% individually in Math, Physics and Chemistry in 12th standard CBSE or 95%  individually in Math, Physics and Chemistry in 12th standard state board

Selection into B.Tech Program

Students will be selected based on a holistic assessment, measured on a three way composite score of entrance examination results, personal interview and extra & co – curricular activities:

  1. Entrance Examination Scores in one of the below three entrance exams (70% weightage)
    • SRMJEEE or JEE (Mains) or SAT
    • The students’ scores will be normalized across there three examinations and then graded
    • For students submitting more than one score, the top ranking one will be considered
  1. Personal interview with a panel of subject matter experts (20% weightage)
  2. A portfolio of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities; such as achievements in sports, literature, fine arts as well as participation in science symposiums, conclave, olympiads etc (10% weightage)

Eligibility for direct admissions

The following set of meritorious students will be eligible direct admissions

  • National Board Toppers: Merit list in either Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics or within 5000 ranks in CBSE
  • National entrance exam topper: within 5000 ranks in JEE (Mains) OR within 1000 ranks in SRM JEEE
  • State level board toppers: within 100 ranks
  • State level entrance exam toppers: within 100 ranks
  • NTSE / KVPY scholars
  • InPhO / InChO / INMO / INOI / INAO – National level Olympiad attendees (or higher levels such as national level camp or representing India in the international Olympiads in the same subjects)

Direct admissions are subject to availability of seats and the decision of the admissions committee is final and binding
